Chapter 35

I woke to the sun beating in my face. I rolled over groaning. I felt lips kiss my forehead, “good morning did you sleep well love?” I nodded, “yeah I slept pretty well for once.” I looked up smiling at him leaning in and pecking his lips, “I’m gonna go start breakfast.” I sat up stretching letting out a groan as I felt my joints pop. I walked down the stairs quietly and headed into the kitchen grabbing all the necessary  items and start cooking as I finish the last plate setting it on the table everyone filters in and sits down I smiled from the doorway as I watch everyone talking and laughing I feel eyes and I look to see Bucky looking he gets up walking over to me, “aren’t you gonna eat?” I shook my head, “no I already ate before y’all got down here.” I lied he gave me a look before sighing, “I know that’s a lie please eat.” I shook my head, “I can’t everytime I even think of eating a wave of nausea hits me and it takes away any appetite I have.” he nods, “fine but at lunch I will make you eat something.” I sigh knowing I can’t get out of it, “fine.” I walked over to the piano opening it and played quietly.

A tear runs down my face but I quickly compose myself continuing to play aware of all the eyes of everyone on me as I sing.

Took a while, was in denial when I first heard

I hear little footsteps and then arms wrap around me and I recognize them as Grace’s so I spin around and pull her into my lap and hug her hiding my face in her shoulder as I try to keep the tears from slipping out of my eyes. I hear more footsteps and I look up to see Wanda storming out of the room and I notice Vision going after her. I sighed frustrated at everything that was happening in my life. I released Grace, setting her down and ran a hand through my hair. I looked at the time and nudged Grace, “go get your school bag I’m taking you and Henry to school today.” she nodded rushing off and I walked over to Jefferson hugging him, “I hope you don’t mind because I promised Henry I would.” he kissed the top of my head, “I don’t mind just be careful.” I nodded and grabbed the keys to Jefferson’s car, “I’m taking your since I don’t have my truck anymore.” I saw dad’s eye glaze over in confusion, “why not?” I shrugged, “crashed it into a ditch and even if I hadn’t Dean could track me with it so it’s better not to have it anyway.” I waved them off, “I’ll explain when I get back.” I noticed Grace and smiled at her, “you ready?” she nodded and we headed out to the car and she seemed hesitant to get in, “Grace sweetheart what’s wrong?” she bit her lip, “promise not to tell papa.” I crossed my pinky with hers nodding, “kids at school are being mean and I wanna defend myself, but I don’t wanna hurt them.” I understood, “I know how you feel Grace when I was in school people weren’t kind, but this is why I promised Henry to drive you both to school so that in case people aren’t being nice I can intervene.” she nodded buckling the seatbelt and I sped off towards Regina’s house and I noticed Henry waiting. I honked and his smile widened climbing into the backseat, “thank you for doing this Luna.” I smiled at him through the mirror, “anything for my two favorite children.” Grace and Henry made conversation as I drove and I parked in front of the school allowing them to climb out, “if anything happens don’t hesitate to contact me okay both of you.” they nodded and they walked into the school and I ignored the feeling of dread as I silently drove back to the mansion.
