A message from her boyfriend, Dimitri had come up before she got a chance to lock her phone. She scoffed and read the long paragraph, not buying his excuses on why he couldn't be with her today. The streets seemed to be more important to her which is part of the reason why they were currently in this situation.

She replied back with a simple thumbs up emoji and pressed the power button to turn the phone off. She finished the rest of the fruit and though it didn't completely satisfy her hunger, she seemed at ease with having something light on her stomach. She cleaned her mess up and unlocked the front door for Genesis before going back to bed.

It didn't take long for Genesis to get there and after she'd eaten her food and took a shower, she climbed right into bed with Karsyn, who was on her stomach as she rubbed her back.

"You aren't a bad person for doing what you felt was right for you, 'Syn and I don't look at you any different. You're still the same Karsyn Sekai Miller. If anything, you're going to learn and grow from this experience."

"I know." Karsyn whispered. "I just... I don't necessarily feel bad because I know that now isn't the time but I can't help but think of the what if's."

"I feel you. I'm always here for you and I know that when the time is right, you'll be the perfect mother to my Godchild."

Karsyn laughed lightly. She was more than thankful to have her best friend by her side.

The next morning, Karsyn felt worse but Genesis was still there and catered to her every need .

" I don't know what's wrong with her, Genesis over here though." Karter, Karsyn's older brother stood in the doorway, talking on the phone.

"Sekai, Mommy said what's wrong and why you not answering the phone?"

Both Karsyn and Genesis couldn't help but chuckle at his overgrown ass calling still calling his mom, mommy.

"Tell her my head hurt, I'll call her later." She waved him off. She hated lying to her mother but at the same time it wasn't a complete lie, her head did hurt, she just didn't want to go into complete details because she knew how her mother could get.

She could still hear him talking and Genesis could feel her growing annoyed so she got up and slammed the door in his face.

"Oh My God." Karsyn huffed. "Can you go let Dimitri in? Please."

Genesis nodded and walked out. Seconds later, in walked Dimitri, Karsyn couldn't deny the fact that he looked good in his Nike shorts and matching shirt with a pair of Jordan 4's on his feet. But she wasn't in the mood for him right now. The fact that he'd left her alone when she really needed him just wasn't sitting right with her.

"Don't get in my bed with your outside clothes on." She mumbled before turning back over, burying her head under the pillows.

He didn't respond but she soon felt the bed dip and his arms wrap around her. Though she didn't want to be around him at the moment, she couldn't help but to relax in his embrace. She placed her hand on top of his as he rubbed her stomach with his fingertips. The couple said nothing to each other but it was obvious that both of them had a lot on their mind.

There was a soft knock on the door and Karsyn told the person to come in. It was Genesis. She couldn't help but shake her head at the two of them.

She started to gather her belongings. " 'Syn, I'll be back, I need to go check on my mom and get some more clothes."

Karysn sat up. "Ok, come back please and be careful."

"You know I'm coming back, I'll call you when I'm on my way." She slung her bag over her shoulder. "Love you. Bye Dimitri."

He mumbled something under his breath and Karsyn told her friend that she loved her before she walked out, shutting the door behind her.

Karysn frowned at the 9 mm glock and wad of money on her dresser. "Dimitri!" She called his name, folding her arms across her chest.

He ignored her. Shoving him roughly, she called his name again.

His eyes shot open. "What Karsyn!? Damn!"

"I don't understand. I just aborted my baby, OUR baby and you finally decide show up like everything is all good."

Dimitri kissed his teeth. "You trippin' right now Syn."

"Oh because you'd rather run the streets all day, I'm trippin'?" She asked, trying to find the logic. "The same streets that's going to end up getting you killed. Ok, got it."

This was an constant argument between the two. Their relationship wasn't necessarily toxic but this was one topic that always seemed to cause problems. While Karsyn wanted her boyfriend to do something with his life besides sell drugs, Dimitri was adamant that it was the only thing he was good at. Karysn didn't mind him using it as some sort of leverage to lead to something better but at some point, she wanted him to beat the odds and not end up like the rest of the dudes he hung around. She'd tried to get him to use the money for a good cause like paying for classes at the community college or something like that but Dimitri was sure that he wanted to be a dope dealer for the rest of his life. And she hated it. He hated her nagging too but he couldn't lie and say that he didn't understand where she was coming from. He was also glad to have somebody care about him the way that she did.

Karsyn's heart was pure. Her mother always said that she was like a rose, a light pink one to be exact; because she was beautiful, graceful and she brought joy into people's lives. And Karysn believed it, but she was unsure of how she was supposed to grow in this dark and evil world.
