"Miss? Are you okay?" You hear a male voice say to you through your tears. It's pouring today although you don't know why. The weather said it'd be sunny today. You sit on the side of the road in the puddles of rainwater on the ground, adding your tears to the mix.
"I don't know. I don't know anything anymore. I thought he'd be here longer. I thought he would stay. For me." You reply. Tears welling in your eyes as you give a sad attempt at giving this stranger an answer.
"I'm sorry? I don't know what you're talking about." You can hear the confusion in his voice.
Suddenly, you hear his footsteps retreating. You start to cry even harder as you're reminded of why you're crying in the first place. Your brother is leaving you. He has to go. He got the job of his dreams. And hearing those retreating footsteps makes you feel even lonelier.
You hear a car door open, then close. And you hear the same footsteps getting closer and closer.
You don't know this person but you can't bear to look at him. You don't want him to see this mess of a person that happens to be sitting on the side of the road that he was driving on. It's embarrassing. You hide your face into your hands further.
Then, the rain stops hitting you. You look up slightly and see an umbrella over your head. The man beginning to sit next to you on the road as he holds the shield over your head, so attentively it's as if the rain hitting you could kill you. He gives you a slight smile as he sees your tears, and you begin to hide your face again.
"I know you don't know me, but I feel like you need someone to talk to. If it's okay with you, I'll listen." He says so softly that it's almost not there.
"Thanks, but it's so complicated. You'd get tired of hearing my voice." You reply shyly.
"I could never. Your voice is beautiful." Says the man. For the first time, you look up at him.
He's beautiful.
His eyes are so bright, even in the dim lights of the late and rainy afternoon. His cheeks are slightly sunken in near his mouth, giving him slight dimples when he smiles. His teeth are pearly and straight. His upper lip thin, while the lower full and beautiful. He has a tiny mole under his lower lip that is concealed when he isn't smiling. His hair is fairly long and wavy, although wet from the rain. It's a dark brown color, similar to your own hair. He looks like an angel in this time of sadness.
"I- I don't know. You're a total stranger. How am I supposed to know if you're trustworthy?" You say, hesitating.
"Well, why don't we go to a cafe or something? Maybe y'know, get out of these puddles?" He asks.
At this point, your face is wet with tears but there are no new ones coming from your eyes. He helped you stop crying and maybe you owe it to him to explain why you were crying in the first place.
"Sure, why not?" You say.
He helps you up and into the passenger seat of his Range Rover. You put your seatbelt on as you wait for him to walk around to the drivers side. He starts driving with light music on although there is no conversation.
"So what's your name?" He asks, hesitantly.
"Why would I tell you that? I don't know you. What if you're taking me to an unknown location just to kill me?" You say, lightheartedly. Even though you're going through a lot right now, you still want to be friends with this man.
"Oh. Okay well I'm Jungkook. Nice to meet you. And no, I'm not going to take you to an unknown location to kill you. If I wanted to kill you, I would have already." Jungkook replies, with the same type of lightheartedness you gave him.
"Well that's what any murderer would say. Anyways, since I already know your name, I should tell you mine right? I'm Y/N. Nice to meet you too. And thank you for stopping on the road for me. I think I would've been there for hours if nobody came to help me." You say, truthfully.
"Anytime." Jungkook replies as we pull into the parking lot of a cute little cafe that has walls decorated with flowers. "We're here. And see I wouldn't kill you here, it's too cutesy."
You laugh. That's the first laugh you had today. He did that. And you don't even know this guy.
You unbuckle your seatbelt and get out as Jungkook holds the umbrella over your head to shield you from the rain. You both walk quickly to the door and head in.
Inside, you order your coffee at the counter and you pay. You choose a table in the corner away from most people and wait for your coffee. You admire the cute flowers that are spread out across the walls and on each table. It's so cute in here, you wonder why you've never come here before. Your coffee arrives and you thank the polite lady who brought it.
"So, are you gonna tell me why you were sitting on the side of the road crying?" He asks, sipping his coffee.
You sip your coffee before answering. "It's really long and complicated... promise you won't get bored with me?" You say, shyly.
"I promise I won't get bored. Ok?" He says.
You lift your pinky out in front of him. He looks at your pinky then back up at you and raises his eyebrows in an 'are you serious' type of look. After a little waiting, he finally raises his pinky to yours, interlocking it then pressing his thumb to yours to seal the promise.
"It's my brother..." you start. "He got a job halfway across the world."
