"Uh hey." is all the boy says when I open the door.

"Hey." I say back.

Brushing the hair out of his face he reveals, "I watched you perform tonight. You're really amazing."

"Thank you!" I reply back.

"Oh I'm Ruel by the way. I sang here tonight."

"No kidding! I knew you looked familiar. You did a terrific job tonight as well!"

Blushing, he says, "Thank you! This venue was bigger than what I normally perform at so I was a little nervous. Plus, I was surrounded by so many talented musicians like you...I wanted to make sure I could live up to your standards."

"Oh please! You are too sweet. I saw you perform today Ruel and you have absolutely nothing to worry about. You are an amazing singer. Something about your voice makes your music so special." I say in all honesty. Seeing Ruel perform tonight was inspiring because like me, I think his music tells a story.

"Thank you again!" Ruel laughs. "Can I come in?"

I hadn't noticed that Ruel and I were still standing in the doorway of my dressing room so I of course said yes and motioned for him to sit on the couch that was in it. By this time, it was already nine thirty pm and my manager had mentioned that my team and I would be leaving the venue around eleven and so for the next two and half hours, Ruel and I just talked about our lives.

Both of us started in the music industry at a very young age, Ruel starting before me. Growing up, we were both very music oriented and it had always been our passion. He shared with me how his songs mean the world to him and how the only reason he started singing was to help people through really hard times. Hearing Ruel talk about how he wants to change the world and help people with whatever they are going through made me realize that I can relate to him and his story so much. I find it awfully amazing how this seventeen year old boy from Australia wants to change the world just like me!
