I walked into the club Lux as the small blogger I was, in hopes to get a new scoop on the man who does favors for the unfortunate that are desperate enough, and what it might mean to make one of those deals. Lux was one of the most famous nightclubs in Los Angeles owned by Lucifer Morningstar who has claimed to be the actual devil. It seemed a great story to get on top of, "The Devil of Los Angeles Grants the Unfortunate Favors". I could grow and finally make a living off of meeting people and helping in as many ways as possible.
"What do you want human?" A woman from the bar shouted at me as I walked down the stairs into the closed club.
"Uh, hello. My name is Angelica Thompson, Mr. Morningstar and I have a meeting set up for an interview" I introduce myself and walk over to the bar she was standing behind.
"He's out right now" she turned away from me with glasses in her hand.
"Oh, okay. Well, if you could have him call me, I'd like to reschedule with him at a better time" I went and pulled out my card. Placing it on the bar, she then placed a drink on top of it next to another one.
"If you have a meeting with him, he should be back in a minute. Have a drink while you wait" she told me with a stern look that made me sit.
"I don't drink, but thank you" I told her and got out my laptop to prepare for the meeting.
"Boring" she downed both off the glasses as if it were water and started working as I got my questions ready.
"Mazikeen, I'm back. You wouldn't believe the detective! She told me to go home, even though I was being perfectly- well, hello there" The man who just ran in, I assumed was Lucifer Morningstar, stopped his sentence when his eyes landed on me.
"Hello, I'm Angelica Thompson and you must be" I was silenced as he said.
"Lucifer Morningstar" he towered over me and my 5'4" figure.
"Perfect" I took his hand that was held out and shook it firmly. "I'm here for the interview."
"Ah, yes, of course. I apologize for being late, I lost track of time with the detective it seems" he told me, taking a drink from the bartender and then led me to a couch in the club.
"It's quite alright Mr. Morningstar. May I ask about this detective though?" I asked him we sat down with my pad and pen. I feel like typing while someone is talking is extremely rude, so I only try to jot quick notes down unless I plan on quoting the person.
"Of course, ask anything. All publicity is good publicity" he said with a smirk. The man was undoubtedly handsome in his three piece suit and slicked hair.
"Let's start with the basics, who is this detective and why were you with them?" I asked him, ready to write down some quick notes.
"Detective Chloe Decker works for the LAPD and I am her partner" he said, looking satisfied.
"So, your a police officer?" I asked with complete surprise. He let out a chuckle, that was unintentionally super sexy.
"No, of course not, I am a civilian consultant" he told me, which I wrote and circled in my notes.
"And how is your help useful to the LAPD?" I ask looking up to the comfortable looking Club owner.
"Other than the exclusive invitations? I draw out people's desires" he answered complacently.
"Yes, I've heard of that. You grant people their "desires" in trade for a favor?" I asked him, striking a line across the page to signal a new topic.
"Yes I do, or did. Since I teamed up with the LAPD, granting favors hasn't been on my mind" he told me. His legs were crossed and he had his drink in one hand, which I noticed a ring on, and his other arm around the back of the couch. That's when I noticed how close we had sat down, but it'd be odd to adjust now.
"And how do you know they'll give you that favor" I ask.
"I don't trust anyone, but Maze and I can certainly make it so they will hold up their end of the bargain" he said cryptically.
"Mr. Morningstar, how do you know that what they ask for is what they truly desire?" I asked one of my main points.
"I like the way you say it. Well, I simply have this appeal to people that draws out all those dark and nasty fantasies" he said, putting his drink down and clasping his hands together as he leant forward towards me.
"They simply trust you with it?" I was slightly confused.
"Yes, it's like a. . . gift from God" he chuckled.
"How does it work?" I leaned back a bit.
"Well, I simply look into their eyes," he made direct eye contact, "and I ask them. What is it you desire?" he stared into my eyes and I felt weird. I looked down to my notepad and wrote down a quote of what he just said for my article. "Huh?"
"Was I supposed to answer Mr. Morningstar? I thought it was just an example" I ask to his confusion.
"You were. Are you related to the detective in some way?" he asked me, in utter confusion. His whole face contorted with his tone as he eyed me as if I was some mythical beast.
"I'm not, I've never even met detective Decker, I can assure you" I answer him. "As for what I desire, I want to give a helpful truth to the world. That is where you come in, I'm giving an inside scoop on a club owner who works for the LAPD and grants favors" I told him quite honestly and scribbled more notes down.
"Interesting" his phone rang and he immediately answered it after looking down at it for just a moment. "I'm sorry but I have to go now, but come back tonight and we can finish the interview in the penthouse" he told me and rushed away.
"Okay then" I packed up my things and left back to my home confused about all that had just happened.
