Fynn squinted at the stormy horizon. Tonight wouldn't be the best day for Ellen to return. But as long as the lighthouse shone bright, her ship would find its way. He glanced at the flame, his love's only guide, then let his gaze wander over the black waves.

She should have been back by now... Pushing the terrible thought aside was routine. He would not accept it as his own. She would return. He couldn't live without her.

As dawn came, Fynn marked it as the 50 000th without her. She was close now, he could feel it.
