"And then it got so tiring... I thought I'll finally just give them their happy ending," Little Frisk lifted their head to give Frisk a bitter smile. "But of course, I don't deserve that. Chara will never let me forget, never let it go. They made me kill everyone even after we reached the surface. After all, it's what I had been doing all this time right? Might as well do it again!"
And the smaller human's breathing hitched, "N-No matter how many times I-I try to get a happy ending, I never do... And I deserve it, I deserve it after everything I've done! It's a-all my f-fault," They sobbed.
Frisk swallowed, and when they spoke their own voice shook, "Why? Why would you..."
The other Frisk stared at them with such bitterness and hate that Frisk resisted the urge to flinch.
"You know why."
And Frisk did know. Frisk knew why they would reset and kill their family whom they love so much. Why they would keep going despite the pain, until the pain is no longer felt and killing becomes so so easy. Why they would do it again and again and again.
Because they were curious. Because they can.
Their lips spread in a grin as if reading Frisk's mind, sick and snarling with pain and self-hatred. "And someday, you will do the same."
Frisk stiffened, denial bubbling past their throat, "I would never."
"Liar!"
"I would never!"
"You're me, and you will become me!"
"Shut up! I won't!"
"Frisk?" Toriel's voice cut through their exchange as muffled footsteps approached their door. "Frisk, why were you shouting? Are you quite alright?"
Frisk looked at the door, refusing to look at whatever expression the smaller Frisk is wearing now. They swallowed thickly, and replied in their best calm and emotionally stable tone, "Y-yeah, Mom. I just tripped–" They can feel the judging stare on their back, "when I tried to catch the plate. Which I almost knocked to the floor," Frisk laughed nervously, "Sorry."
A pause, and Toriel's tone was exasperated but fond, "Then be careful next time, child. I don't want you getting hurt."
"Yeah, I'll be careful," Frisk said, wondering how they ever thought capable of hurting this wonderful and caring woman.
The footsteps retreated, leaving them in still silence. Frisk slowly turned their head to the other, expression pained but determined.
"I won't."
The words hung in the air between them.
______________
Both of them didn't say anything to the other afterwards, aside from Frisk telling the smaller one where they can sleep, and even then they refused to directly look at their mirror.
Frisk settled in their bed, pulling the blanket to their shoulders and curling up with their back to the miniature human. The silence was heavy, but Frisk closed their eyes, having no wish to break it themself.
