IN VAIN

as fast as the lightning,
as soon as the dayspring
it came.
furious. merciless. uproaring.
poeple in panic, trying
to tame
the beast they long encaged,
robbed its freedom, now enraged.
such shame -
poeple suffer from its lethal phage;
sparing no one, knowing no age.
some blame
another, insulting, mocking, pointing
fingers, their own fault not realizing
- how lame.

strained yesterday, now's its aching
everywhere. humanity weeping, calling
God's name
to stop the war they have been starting
battlecries of remorse, hoping, seeking
sooner endgame.

whilst they're in despair, panic-stricken,
the earth rests in solitude, regenerating
to once reclaim
even by little the vibe it was possessing
- the beauty everyone was acclaiming,

just to
once again
placed in vain.
