"Wait, so let me get this straight. We were fighting the Black Swan, and then they knocked us unconscious. We got concussions, which caused our amnesia. Then you brought us back to this hideout."
"That's correct," Lady Gisela confirms as I toss my bangs out of my eyes.
"And I'm a... Shade?"
"Yes," Lady Gisela nods. "And you, Ms. Foster, are a Telepath, Inflictor, Enhancer, Teleporter, and a Polyglot."
"Why do I have so many abilities?" Sophie asks, tugging at another eyelash.
"Well, the Black Swan genetically altered your DNA so you would have extra abilities. They wanted you to work for them, but once you heard our opinion, you switched sides," Lady Gisela explains.
"So... What now?" I ask, tugging at my bangs. "What does the Neverseen even want, anyways?"
"The council has always ignored all the problems our world has. They aren't prepared to make the hard choices. For example, the humans are slowly taking over this world. Before long, we will be discovered and they will wage war. We need to take action now. The council is ignoring this problem, so the Neverseen is trying to take power."
"Okay..." Sophie nods along. "And what exactly is this action?" She reaches up to pull at another eyelash.
"I would love to further explain our beliefs, but first, there are some more pressing matters to attend to." Lady Gisela reopens the door and ushers us into the hallway. "It's time for you two to relearn how to use your abilities!"
