She disappeared in the night.

It's been a week or so since the throwing star incident, and I was starting to think everything was going to be okay. Sophie and I had ability training most of the day, and after dinner, we could do whatever we wanted. We were SUPPOSED to be in our own rooms, but I found that there was a door in the back of my closet that led to Sophie's closet, so after dinner, we often talked, and tried to figure out ways to act out more memories. We haven't gotten any more memories yet, but I was hopeful. I was starting to get the hang of this whole Neverseen thing. Not that I trusted them... I barely know them. But at least I had Sophie.

One day, Sophie and I asked someone called Ruy for more information about why they were rebelling. He said the same things Lady Gisela said; that the Council has been ignoring important issues, and that the Lost Cities are going to be overthrown by a race called 'humans' because the Council hasn't been doing anything. I have some doubts... alright, scratch that, a lot of doubts. But Sophie really trusts them... she's been working really hard in all her training classes, and after dinner she always tells me about everything she learned. She seems really happy, so I'm trying to leave her out of this. If I'm right, and there's something more to this, I just want to let her be happy while she can. I tried to enjoy myself too... until she disappeared.

I woke up one morning feeling better than usual. Things were going okay. Yesterday, I learned how to summon something called Shadowflux. I knocked on Sophie's closet door, but she didn't open it. "That's strange..." I said aloud, tugging on my bangs. Usually Sophie was awake already, because the sounds of Neverseen members walking in the hallway is very loud. I peeked in, hoping to see her curled up in bed. But she wasn't there. My heart started beating faster, even though I knew that she could just be at the dining room already. I went to the dining room, expecting to see her sitting at our usual table, tugging on an eyelash, while her gold-flecked brown eyes scanned the page of the book she was reading. But she wasn't there.

I ran down to Lady Gisela's office, all sorts of worries rushing through my head. I frantically knocked on the door, and after a few seconds, a voice replied, "Whoever is it, come again later. I'm busy."

I burst in anyway, and found Lady Gisela writing on a long paper with a timeline on it. I barely glimpsed the word "human" before she quickly covered it up.

"What are you doing? I told you to go away." Lady Gisela demanded, her cold eyes glaring into mine.

"Sophie's gone!" I burst out, frantically explaining the whole situation.

Lady Gisela just stared at me. "Why do you care?" She asked, standing up. "Didn't you just meet her?"

"Yes, but... I trust her." I explained, nervously tugging on my bangs.

"And do you trust me?"
"Well..." I thought about how to explain it for a few seconds before I responded, "no, because you haven't answered all my questions."

Lady Gisela sighed. "Not everything is easily explained. But in the hope you will start to trust me, I will tell you where Sophie is." She waited a beat before she responded, "She has been moved to a different hideout, with less people. She needs more specialized training, ever since her accident with the throwing stars. It will be safer there."

After that, she ushered me out. The rest of the day was a blur of endless worry; it was hard for me to pay attention to anyone, because all I could think about was Sophie. Now that the day is finally over with, I get a little free time to do something to try to get her back. Even if it requires betraying the Neverseen, I have to find Sophie!
