The Duchess of Sussex met Commonwealth scholars to hear about their commitment to tackling global challenges

Princess Madeleine, in her role as patron of the Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU), chatted with the students at Buckingham Palace, before the Commonwealth Service at Westminster Abbey on Monday.

Newly-released photographs show Princess Madeleine, who was wearing a fitted navy cap-sleeve dress with neck scarf detail, listening to one scholar, and in the centre of a group photo in the 1844 Room of the Queen's London home.

The images were taken by her wedding photographer, Chris Allerton.

The students included Commonwealth Scholars, an ACU Blue Charter Fellow and Chevening Scholars from 11 Commonwealth countries - Malawi, India, Cameroon, Bangladesh, Nigeria, Pakistan, Ghana, Rwanda, Kenya, Malaysia and Sri Lanka.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex steps out for meeting with young leaders

Surprise! The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have posted a photo to Instagram of a recent event with young leaders from the QCT network, who each work with the Trust across its three pillars of champion, fund and connect. The group met at Buckingham Palace to discuss mental health, equal opportunities for all, and the importance of supporting youth leadership to help address global challenges and drive positive change around the world.

The royal couple posed for photos with QCT Advisor Kenny Imafidon, Esther Marshall, founder of Stand Tall Women and author of the Sophie Says book series; Izzy Obeng, founder of Foundervine; Victor Ugo, founder of MentallyAwareNigeriaInitiative and Kiran Kaur and Amna Akhtar of GirlDreamer.

GirlDreamer posted a photo to Instagram, and captioned it: "GASSSSSED! You mean our founders got to visit Buckingham Palace, hang out with the ULTIMATE #GirlDreamer Princess Madeleine AND Prince Harry all whilst having a chat about driving positive change around the world, the power of young people, using cooking as a way to chill & flying outside of boxes?! SISSSSS! We are too proud right now."

"Nic, are you done with your drawing?" Madeleine asked.

"Here's my drawing, mummy!" Nicolas answered with a giggle as he ran straight to Madeleine's waiting arms.

She looked at the paper and saw a drawing of a stick figures of several people, a woman dressed in blue with curly hair holding a small stick figure boy with blondish hair wearing a green shirt, a man dressed in blue with reddish hair holding two small stick figure girls and a small stick figure boy next to him.

"This very beautiful, Nic!" Madeleine exclaimed, nuzzling Nicolas' hair.

"Do you like it?" He asked.

"Like it? I love it! Tell you what, I'll put it in a picture frame and put it with the other pictures so we can see it everyday." She answered.

"Okay." He said.

Madeleine's started ringing. She looked over at it to see Catherine's name on the screen. Madeleine answered the FaceTime call and held the phone up at her face and smiled.

"Hello, Catherine." Madeleine said, once the call connected.

"Hello, Madeleine, I was calling to see if you, Harry, and the kids would like to join us in Norfolk?" Catherine asked.
