"Hey, gorgeous," I blushed at his greeting. I had straightened my hair and decided upon wearing light, skinny jeans rolled up past my ankles. I had on a sweatshirt because my hair had taken forever. Then, converse. Nick wore vans.
My boyfriend kissed my cheek and I wondered if he could feel the warmth of them.
"I like your hair like that." He complimented.
"If you keep talking like that, I'll be as red as a tomato." He chuckled. Jared was staring at us with a bored look on his face.
"It's Jared right?" Nick asked. He let go of me and went up to my younger brother. Jared was slightly shorter than Nick and something told me my little brother would surpass my boyfriend by the end of the year.
"Yeah, Nick?" Nick nodded. They shook hands and I desired every meeting to be just like this when Nick met the rest of my family.
"Stacy talks about you and the others a lot." Jared seemed surprised. "In order it's John, Matthew, Stacy, Jared, Rick, then Ryan, yeah?" Jared nodded and gave a kind smile.
"So ... are you and Stacy dating?"
"I think so," Nick answered. I shoved him and he laughed while swinging an arm around me. "Do I have your permission to do so?"
Jared smiled mischievously. "I'm not the only one you should be asking for permission to date my sister." Nick's goofy grin disappeared and Jared and I laughed.
"Man, I guess you having four more brothers and a dad totally slipped my mind." We laughed again.
All three of us walked into school together until Jared met up with his friends. Nick waved to Kyle and I felt nervous to go over to the drill team his friend was hanging around.
"Kyle, Stacy. Stacy, Kyle." Nick introduced us. Kyle Everett looked me up and down then gave me a fake smile.
"Hi," he said. He grabbed his backpack straps and a wicked smile grew on his face. "So you're the girl that Nick can't stop blabbering about." I smiled at my converse and Nick squeezed my hand. A girl turned her attention to us then looked at our hands.
"Nick, you have a girlfriend?" I wanted to look back down at my feet but Nick even said he liked it when I was confident. I held my head high and answered the girl myself. I mean, I answered her with a simple nod and smile. I lost my smile when she looked me up and down and displayed no emotion.
I didn't belong in this friend group.
"I thought you didn't date," she said. She had really pretty blond hair with brown roots. Her eyes were a piercing blue and her perfect chest was spilling out of her shirt. I wanted to roll up in a ball and disappear. This girl was really pretty.
"Sarah, this is Stacy. And ... yeah, we're dating," Nick shrugged and didn't exactly answer the really pretty girl.
"So does this mean you're off limits?" She seductively said, pressing a hand on his chest. He looked down at her cleavage and I squeezed his hand.
"Uhhh ... yeah, yep. Definitely." He looked at me with a smile. "Definitely off limits."
"Damn, you must be good at blowing for Nick to want to date you." My face turned red and realization hit me that this Sarah girl and Nick had done it. I felt incredibly uncomfortable being around one of Nick's sex go-to-ers.
