Specimen 0007, who calls itself "Ryan" has come into my possession after an incident caused Dr. [redacted] to cease experimentation on S-0007 and his employment at [redacted] Labs was terminated. "Ryan" had been under the care of Dr. [redacted] before my employment at the lab, and it is showing signs of emotional stress since the transfer occured.
Request sent for outside material to be brought into lab for use by S-0007 only.
[Request accepted. No items over 30 lbs due to S-0007's size.]
Date: 02/10/2003
S-0007 has begun to earn my trust and has begun to communicate with me more regularly. It refers to itself as "Ryan" still, and is ignoring me when I refer to it as "S-0007." But, if I refer to it as "Ryan" it will answer and pay attention.
I brought "Ryan" a package of markers and a coloring book. It made a good distraction while I was making marks on it's back for the implants.
Before his termination, Dr. [redacted] had made plans for implanting wings into it's back as the specimen is young and the chances of recovery are high. He wrote in his personal notes that he wanted it to be done this year. He also wrote about how he did not want to call S-0007 by a certain gender. I do not believe that is exactly nessicary, nor do I know why it would prove to be efficient / nessicary.

Implants were successfully grafted into S-0007's shoulder blades.
Date: 02/13/2003
"Ryan" will not talk to me or communicate in any form since the implants were put in. She just sits on the floor and continues to stare at the wall.

I have brought "Ryan" a stuffed bear in hopes to earn trust again. She looked, with what I assume was curiosity, as I walked into the room but quickly looked away. I placed the bear down next to "Ryan" and then left the room.
The graveyard shift supervisor of Hallway C1 alerted me that "Ryan" has begun to move from her spot on the floor. This is the first movement by herself since the implants.
Date: 03/05/2003
"Ryan" told me about the incident with Dr. [redacted]. Nothing much then what the reports say. The video surveillance system caught it all, and I do believe that S-0007 just didn't know their strength.
The wings have been accepted by her body, and upon request, she can twitch them slightly.
Date: 03/17/2003
I am letting S-0007 choose her name, which she wants to be as Ryan. After watching more CCTV tapes of interactions between Ryan and the graveyard shift supervisor, I am curious of the interaction face to face.
Date: 04/09/2003
Ryan is more comfortable around me. She has been telling me that she likes the Greenhouse and coloring. The lab had quite a few new specimens recently, so I'm not sure if the Greenhouse is a great idea.
Date: 04/23/2003
[Please evacuate all specimen in Hallway C2, C3 and C4. If tranq assistance is needed, please see the Office. All rooms on the East wing are being updated with privacy walls. Observation rooms can be accessed through Hallway C1.]

Ryan is more confident about talking about how she feels. She told me that she was mad at me today. I asked her why and she told that she did not like that I watched her through the wall when she was alone. This would be a valid reason to be mad about, but the only issue is that the two way wall was installed last week and she did not know about it. There is no way for her to know about it... Unless she can see through it...

We went to the Greenhouse today. Ryan had a good time, as she told me. We practiced moving the wings and there has been a lot of improvement since I met her. She is no where near close to being able to try to fly or glide, but progress is progress.
Date: 07/24/2003
I am going to continue to update this log as important things happen. I feel that frequent updates are not as nessicary as Ryan gets older.

There was a breech in security today while we were in the Greenhouse. The doors all locked automatically and fire alarms went off. Unfortunately, Ryan was trying to climb up a tree when it happened. She got spooked and started to show extreme anxiety to the noise and panic. She somehow managed to unravel her wings and in the process got stuck on a branch. There was a loud snap, and I knew what happened before she did. Besides that, at least we know that the graft completely worked... Nerves and all.

Ryan is in pain still. I don't blame her for getting scared of the lockdown. She wasn't prepared.

Ryan's wings are healing, but she isn't very happy about it. She keeps complaining about how much it hurt but then won't let me help her.
Date: 10/19/2004
Ryan learned about the holidays. Luckily, that gives her something to focus on instead of her injury. On the other hand, she is obsessed. She keeps asking about how one man can get around to everyone and deliver presents. She isn't as interested in Turkeys.
Date: 12/20/2004
I have brought in some movies to entertain Ryan while she is healing. The graveyard shift supervisor, or to her "buddy," has been helping with the boredom. He some how got the okay from the office to get a VHS played installed at his desk and a CCTV installed in her room. I'm still not sure how he made that happen, he's just the night security guard.

Ryan is excited about Christmas, even though there is not really a celebration of sorts here. I do feel bad about how excited she is and how much she falls about.
When I came in this morning, I brought her some candy mints, cookies and some eggnog. I told her it was made out of only eggs, and she was grossed out about that. It was actually pretty funny. She enjoyed the cookies and said the mint was too spicy.
Better yet, her wings have healed rather quickly. I think I'll run some blood tests and see if anything is unusual.
Date: 03/18/2005
The blood tests from December were normal, except for a slight iron deficiency, but that's normal for the specimens in the lab.
Date: 05/03/2005
We have been practicing moving her wings as often as we can. Today she fully stretched them out. She was happy with her progress and was eager to show "Buddy."
Date: 07/21/2005
[Please evacuate all specimens in Hallway C2. Windows are being installed in rooms R05 to R15. If tranq assistance is needed, please see the Office.]
Date: 07/25/2005
They updated a security system in the lab and installed view windows in Hallway C2. Ryan is thrilled, for now, since it means she can see "Buddy" better.
Date: 10/13/2005
Ryan and "Buddy" have been getting closer, and I'm going to have to explain to her that she will be moving soon. I got a notice today that something in the system is changing and the specimens who reside in Hallway C2 have to be under 5 human years to be here. I am going to ask to transfer to another Hallway to continue to work with Ryan. There's so much I need to do still.
Request sent for employee transfer.
Transfer from: Hallway C2
Transfer to: Permanent handler of S-0007.
[Request received. Processing and reviewing...]
Date: 01/28/2006
I wish it wouldn't come to this, but I have been assigned a new specimen now that Ryan, S-0007, has reached an age to get transferred to the West Wing.
To who every gets to work with Ryan next, please take good care of her. She will do as you want as long as you are kind. And please, remember, yes she's special, but she is only about 6 or 7 years old. She was part of the Incident Program, she is a specimen, but she is a child in the end.
I really wish I didn't have to say goodbye...
Hopefully the transfer request goes through quickly...
