Kuroo's hands came down firmly on Yaku's shoulders from behind to which he flinched in shock, but Kuroo wasn't finished. He violently shook him to and fro, "No you're not! Get. Yourself. Together!" he yelled between shaking Yaku's shoulders until Kuroo finally let go. Yaku stumbled forward a few paces and turned on his heels— pissed. Kuroo put a hand to his temple, "Look. What I was trying to say is take her back to the tea shop then. I thought your first date would've been something more exciting, but given it's you two I guess a tea shop is exciting. Take her back there and make her remember some nostalgic shit. Maybe write the question on a napkin or something, I don't know..." he began to prattle off a list of anything and everything he had seen in his extremely limited romance movie knowledge, but Yaku had stopped listening after the first suggestion.

After pondering the suggestion for a few moments, a grin began to form on Yaku's face until it reached his eyes that were alight with a newfound excitement, "Kuroo...that might've been one of the smartest things you've ever said. Thank you!"

Before Kuroo could clarify what Yaku meant by that, or respond with a snide remark of his own, Yaku had already taken down the rest of the street on his own in a hurry.

         "Hey Yaku! Where are you—

"I think we'll find out soon enough," Kai cut off.

"I hope he doesn't do what I said word for word. I was just talking out of my ass."

The next day, skipping volleyball practice via a text to Kuroo and Kai asking both of them to do him "a huge favor and cover his ass and he'll owe them big time." Yaku found you in the library's window with your friends. He hurriedly burst through the doors only to be shh-ed by nearly everyone in the vicinity. All eyes on him as he frantically, but quietly apologized fervently. With flushed red cheeks, a casual mix from the winded run, embarrassment, and fear for what he's about to do, he calmly slowed his pace to make his way over to the table of you and your friends.

Flashing everyone a polite smile, he was quick to turn to you, "I was wondering if I could ask you to come with me to the tea shop? I know this is last minute, but I could really use your help with something and I think everyone in here is plotting my murder as I whisper."

Typically, Yaku is very cordial in his messages with you and never asks you for something without at least a day in advance's notice. Whatever was on his mind, you knew it had to be extremely important. Your mouth drops to reply, but you turn your head to glance at your friends— who have beaming smiles and are nodding their heads ecstatically and waving you off to go with Yaku.

Their expressions only fuel your suspicions as you turn back to Yaku, "Sure. Just give me one moment to pack up."

"Great! Thank you, I'll be waiting outside for you."

After bidding your friends goodbye, they gave you a quick thumbs-up on your way out. They're certainly acting weird, you noted and only rolled your eyes in response. As coolly as you tried to play off the situation as being, you were terrified of the many unknowns: Yaku suddenly asking for your help, your friend's unusual behavior, the nagging suspicion that something awful was about to happen.

The walk to the tea shop, while brief, was filled with a heavy tension that you swore you could cut into with a knife. Yaku had stumbled over nearly every word he said to you and his very apparent nerves did little to calm your own. Once the two of you reached the tea shop, Yaku held the door for you and the two of you went to a free table near the window.
