One day, the second wife came up with a plan to get rid of Coumba. She told Coumba to take and large wooden spoon down to the ocean and wash it clean in the salty ocean water. Coumba was afraid to go down to the ocean because she he heard that the road was dangerous and the ocean fierce.

Coumba did not want to upset second wife, so she took the dirty spoon and left. She had not gone very far before she lost her way and began to cry. A jinni appeared before her.

"Girl, why are you crying?" The Jinni asked.

"I am headed to the ocean to wash this wooden spoon, but I have lost my way," Coumba answered.

"Stop your crying. I will show you the way," the Jinni proclaimed. Suddenly a road appeared. The Jinni pointed to it and said, "Walk along this path."

Coumba remembered her manners and said, "Thank you!"
The jinni decided to accompany Coumba.
