MADELINE POV
I sat on the cold floor as I stared out at the window and took in the beautiful landscape of New York City. It was so dark outside that the city lights were the only thing you could see now. I had always been fascinated by the gorgeous view of the city at night but right at this moment I couldn't care less, it didn't look extravagant anymore.
I just felt numb. Today I had lost my mother, my boyfriend, and the people I called my family. I had lost it all in a matter of minutes.
I curled up in a ball with my legs against my chest as I began to cry once again.
Suddenly I felt someone rub my back and I knew William had come back. We were staying at a hotel at the moment and he had left to bring us food.
"It's going to be alright Madeline. I'm here for you." I turned around and embraced William. I needed to feel someone's warmth, maybe this would help relieve the empty cold feeling I felt.
William was a sweet guy but I couldn't help but crave Grayson's touch and his warm embrace. It was hard to admit it but Grayson was the only person who could make me feel protected in his arms. I missed him so much. But it was because I loved him so much that it hurt me the most when I found out the news. He had kept it away from me for so long.
It felt like so many emotions were swirling through my mind. I was grieving for the loss of my mother and a family I still loved.
It felt like I had been crying for hours and suddenly I was able to calm down. William held me in his arms the entire time letting me know he was here for me.
