Noel. His name was Noel. Ignoring the mixed thoughts of holy fuck he's hot and Rose would make a good detective, she continues scrolling through his feed. Rose hates how this feels but she can't stop. She takes notice about how similar their feeds are in a way, most pictures on their instagrams are of them flipping someone off or glaring at the camera. By scrolling through his Instagram she can tell what kind of person he is. That kid in class who is disruptive but sometimes funny, that kid who's home life is that shit his only escape is school. It's obvious.
Sighing Rose puts her phone down, kicking herself for giving this guy her time and effort. She can't even think of one valid excuse to why she had to go and find his Instagram. Hearing the doorbell rings she figured out it's the "lets defuse the tension food" Cody ordered. Preparing to walk out and face thing 1 and thing 2 she hears her phone buzzing, its a call from her mom. Hiding a smile she answers and opens the door. Listening to her mom talk about her day she eyes Cody and Noel around the dining room table, eating like animals. Fighting the urge to roll her eyes back into her skull she skims the kitchen table in search for something to eat. Another flaw Rose seems to have was that she seems to forget to eat, part of her thinks its on purpose and the other half just doesn't give a fuck since no one has noticed. Replying to her mom with basic answers she catches Noel's eyes roaming over her - then the food on the counter, as if to say are you gonna eat something.
Turning her back to the boys, all of a sudden feeling self conscious she starts wrapping up the call with her mom. She asks to speak with Cody, Rose stops herself from saying "why couldn't you just call him" and hands the phone to Cody. He jumps up and walks off into the hallway leaving both Noel and Rose in silence. About to go back to her room Noel speaks up "Are you gonna get something?" Her shoulders tense, "No, i'm not hungry" Noel just stares at her, like that technique the police use while questioning someone making Rose feel like she has to say something else.
Noel notices her. Not the mask but her. He noticed when she came out, talking on the phone responding to questions with the basic "yeah fine" and "good". He notices how she scans her eyes over the food looking like she was mentally arguing with herself. Watching her stroll over and hand the phone to Cody, he questions if he should say something or not. He knows as seen from before it'll piss her off and I mean it wasn't like it was Noel's job to care for her, it was more of a "it seems to me like i'm the only one who pays attention." Staring at her, he asks if shes gonna grab something, watching as her shoulders tense and face get tighter he automatically knows he hit a sore spot. She doesn't show it though. Sighing softly he picks a burrito up and tosses it over to the empty chair. Rose know what he's getting at and to shut him up she just sits down. Unwrapping the foil she snaps at Noel "are you going to continue staring at me or eat?" Huffing out a laugh he picks his food up and continues eating, Noel cant find the words to describe this situation. Half an hour ago they were half having an argument - now they're eating in silence but it wasn't awkward silence. It was civilised.
When Rose hears her brother walk back down the hallway she has the urge to stand up. As if she'd just been caught doing something she shouldn't have. Cody casts a weird look but it's taken over by happiness when he sees that the pair seem to be getting along. Taking advantage of Rose's some what peaceful looking posture he brings up how Kelsey, his date from the other night was at awe by his sisters dancing. Rose of course gives him back a "Was she saying that to fuck you or did she mean it?" hearing Noel add on "bringing your date to your sisters performance, kind of a cockblock man" which causes Rose to raise her eyebrows in both triumph and amusement. Cody is quick to defend her saying she meant it, and proceeds to ask if Rose would be okay if she came over tonight trying to hint at the fact that he wants both Rose and his roommates to give him privacy.
"What's with your friends not having houses, Cody?" she smirks, proud of her dig at Noel. "Sam said you can stay the night, Dev and Marcus will be there too, just- please? I really like her Rose" Cody pleas. Sometimes it annoys Rose that her brother will never just make her do something. Despite the circumstance if Cody would have just said get out of the house tonight, she would. Putting down her half finished burrito she stands up, "I'm not staying with them, I need a break anyways" and walks off to her room, ending the conversation just like that.
