the sun was the first to welcome me to the great unknown.
i like to think she rules this dark palace like an ancient queen to a kingdom of undiscovered magic.
she likes hearing my dramatic tales and my potential origin stories, though i must yell them to her for i cannot go too close.
she understands, though i have an inkling that she has a deep ache of sadness within her molten heart.
most are afraid of her, you see as she burns with a scorching fire that she cannot control. it's difficult to look at her, too for her unwavering light makes my eyes ache.
to make her feel better, i call her
fire dreamer
as she often tells me of her life as a young star;
how she saw the earth develop in front of her very eyes and watched humans learn to take their first steps in space.
she feels such a sense of responsibility to keep the earth alive and well but sometimes i think
she wishes she was more appreciated.
—i've learned thatthe contents of your heart and soul are always more important than your appearance.
