{sorry for missing an update don't be mad pleaseee 👉👈🥺}

I yawned, barely able to keep my eyes open from my restless night. I made my way out of bed and took a shower, hoping the water would wake me up. After I got ready and ate breakfast I felt awake but my mind just felt dead or like I was trying to figure out a million things at once.

~(At School)~

I was making my way to Cyrus locker and when I saw him it felt like my head was clear, It felt like every thought in my mind that stressed me out except for one.

"What am I?"

"Hey," Cyrus said to me, I didn't even realize that I had approached him already.

"Hey Muffin" I replied with a smirk. He rolled his eyes and let out a sigh of frustration making me laugh. It was cute how annoyed he got at the nickname.

"I'm only letting it slide cause there not here yet," He said in an annoyed voice closing his locker. I couldn't get what happened yesterday out of my head every time I saw him I thought of the moment.

"You coming to my game today?" I asked with a smile on my face leaning against a locker.

"Maybe" He replied in a low tone, he might as well of said no. "You look exhausted," He said looking into my eyes making me helpless but to gaze back into his making me smile.

"I um- didn't get a lot of sleep last night," I said holding back a yawn.

"Drink," He said handing me a metal bottle.

"What's in it," I asked opening it and smelling it.

"Just coffee" He replied. It smelt sweet and when I took a sip it tasted even sweeter. I handed it back to him, but he didn't take it.

"Keep it, you need it more than I do," He said giving me a small smile.

"Hey guys," Andi said in her usual cheery voice with Buffy next to her and Jonah following behind them. I waved back at them taking another sip of coffee. We all talked for about five minutes before the bell rang. Cyrus, Jonah and I made our way to math and when we got there took our seats.

"Switch seats with me" I whispered to Jonah.

"Why?" He asked.

"Cause I just want to" I replied. He shrugged his shoulders and sat down in my usual seat and me sitting in his. The teacher began to talk but all I could do was keep my eyes on him. He had his head down to the side so the only view I had was the back of his head but it still gave me butterflies. I felt the side of my face heat up and I quickly looked down at my paper making sure I didn't get too much attention.

Part of me hated feeling like this, feeling like I fell head over heels for a boy. That part of me couldn't believe that I like him, that part of me still denied it. I looked back over to him and he had his head up facing the teacher. His soft pink lips were together and I could only think about the kiss that happened on his birthday.

~(After Class)~

"Did you guys understand anything she taught?" Jonah asked as we walked to art.

"Kinda" I responded scrolling through my phone. I was trying to distract myself from Cyrus even though he was walking next to me. We walked through the classroom doors and took our seats after grabbing our projects. After everyone got settled the teacher began to call people up.

"Tj and Jonah," She said. Jonah and I went up to the easel and Jonah put the canvas on it. It was just a simple red heart that had stuff we liked to do.

"We drew this because it shows how there are so many things that people could love or like but at the end of the day everyone's heart is the same," I said with a smile on my face. Everybody clapped and we took our seats back at our table.

"Alright, Cyrus," She said. He got up and put his painting on the easel. His painting was a heart that was black and red but there was more black than red. On the part of the heat that was colored black had stitches, bandages and open wounds on it, on the part that of the red heart there were tiny splatters of black and stuff like money and food on it.

"I drew this because nothing is the same in the heart. Some people could have more hurt than love in their heart and other people could have more love than hurt but, nobody is filled with just one" He said sounding slightly nervous.

"This is beautiful Cyrus," She said. Everyone clapped and Cyrus smiled a small bit and sat down.

"He's just full of surprises," I said to myself.

~(At Lunch)~

"She said that I should do the art show," Cyrus said to Buffy, Andi, Jonah, and I.

"So why don't you want to do it?" Andi asked.

"It's dumb" He responded making me let out a small laugh. They all continued to talk and I couldn't help but see how cute Cyrus looked in my hoodie.

~(After School Before The Game)~

(I WANT TO APOLOGIZE IN ADVANCE CAUSE I HAVE NO IDEA HOW BASKETBALL WORKS)

The day couldn't have gone by any faster I was so excited for the game I knew we were gonna win. The whole team was in the locker room just waiting for the game to start. We were all anxious I could tell and as soon as we heard the locker room door open that feeling went away for some of us.

"Alright, boys we got this right!" The coach said with confidence in his voice.

"Yes, Coach!" We all said proud and strong.

"I want good plays from all of you, we've gotten too far to fail now," He said putting his hand out us stacking ours on top of his. "It's been a great season now let's make it the best one Jefferson has ever seen"

"Jefferson!" We all roared out throwing our hands up. We all ran out on the court going into our position listening to the crowd cheer. I looked up at the bleachers and saw Andi, Jonah, Buffy, and my mom and dad. I smiled a small bit but was still disappointed I didn't see Cyrus I was just hoping that he'd come.

The whistle blew and before I knew it, the game started. I made my way down the court trying to make myself open for a pass. I managed to get open and was passed the ball, I dribbled down the court managing to get past some of the players. I had an open shot and took it but the ball bounced off the rim. I sucked my teeth running down the court playing defense.

~(Last Quarter)~

The score was 25 to 35 and I only scored ten points so far. I was on the bench watching the game go on when I saw something I couldn't believe. I saw Cyrus taking a seat next to my dad. A smile grew on my face and he looked back at me smiling and rolled his eyes.

"Coach put me in," I said with a smile and a look of confidence on my face. He called a timeout and put me in. As soon as the whistle blew I rushed passed the person defending me to the other side of the court. I passed the ball and quickly made a three-pointer. A smile grew on my face as the crowd cheered, I looked over at Cyrus cheering as well.

The rest of the game our team made a comeback scoring point after point. The score was tied 35 to 35 and the clock was at ten seconds I went for another shot and as the ball left my hands I was pushed back by the person in front of me. The ref blew the whistle and called the foul.

Everyone lined up next to the free-throw line and I stood on the free-throw line. I dribbled the ball and let in and out a deep breath. I shot and as the ball went through the air It hit the rim and bounced on the court floor.

"Fuck," I said to myself. I looked over at Cyrus before getting the ball passed back to me.

"If I make this... I have a chance" I whispered to myself. I shot the ball and my ears were filled with the sound of it going through the net. The crowd cheered and I couldn't help but grin knowing whatever time was left wasn't enough time for either team to score. Before I knew it the loud buzz from the buzzard filled the gym and the whole team was cheering my name.
