[James' Point of View]
"5.. 4.. 3... 2... 1.. Happy New Year!! " the people shouted in my neighborhood as they are welcoming the year 2010.
Firecrackers are starting to burst and it sounded like it's going to break my eardrums. The fireworks display amazes each eye of my family as they see a spectacular show outside of our house.
"Happy New Year James!" said my parents.
But I don't seem to be happy because I think that this coming year would just be the same. I still can't express my feelings for Anabelle and I am suppressing it like a pressure cooker ready to explode anytime.
It's been 8 months since we have been together in the same company after we graduate. We were closer to each other than we were in college. I felt that time will stop when we are together and my day will always be complete if she is around.
But my time with Anabelle will be running out soon because she will be assigned to Manila next week, for we have a client there which is a big pharmaceutical company. She will be there for at least 2 years.
I need to decide if I want to tell Anabelle what I feel or just leave it to myself as I want to preserve our friendship. It may damage our relationship even more especially that we will be far from each other.
"Hi Anabelle, I would like to greet a happy new year! Hope for more and more blessings to come," I texted my crush.
"Happy new year James!, Thanks for being a friend and hope to grow our friendship on this new decade," she replied.
"By the way on Monday, can we have lunch together? There is something I need to tell you."
"Okay, what is it about? Well, I guess I have to hear it on Monday when our work resumes," she replied.
I am planning to tell her before it's too late, for I can't wait for Monday to come. I must do it or else there is no other chance.
As I was thinking about it, I fell asleep. Our place became quiet as the hype of the new year slows down. The people were tired and so is my family.
**********
As I was sleeping, I had a dream. In my dream, I saw a man dressed in shining white clothes. His face is so bright that I can't even dare to look as it blinds me. His voice is as loud as the thunder.
"Let there be light!" shouts the man.
Then a bright light was coming and covered the surroundings that made my eyes like being pierced with a sharp object.
"I am HE who created that all, and He who called you for a purpose," the man said to me
"Purpose? For what?" I was wondering.
Then suddenly the man disappeared in a whirlwind. The wind was so strong that I was pushed away. It spins so fast that it could topple a house as I was shouting for help, and then suddenly, I woke up.
I became calm when I knew that it's only a bad dream. My heartbeat so fast then I got up and touched my chest as my heartbeat is still racing.
As I was looking down, I saw a Bible.
"Now I remember, my dream is like in Genesis!" I said to myself.
"I think God was telling something to me, I don't know what it is".
I immediately read the big book as I was puzzled why I dreamed about a Genesis account. As I read it, I was excited because it's unusual for me to read such a book.
