Based on the strong use of character interactions in Hemingway's "Cat in the Rain", try and write a conversation between two people where they talk about nothing. Have the characters have a meaningful relationship like they are a couple, close friends, or family members. Talking about nothing could be a lack of interest in discussion, avoiding important topics, or a lack of focus for each other. The empty conversation should be a stark contrast to the idea of their relationship.
