the end of Christmas

281 11 3

Taking down the Christmas lights
And the Christmas tree
Stacking the boxes to new heights
Packing up all that glee

The shelves seem bare
The living room empty
Shadows of what once stood there
Now fill the room a plenty

But then the old flower vases
Fill up all the empty spaces
Time slows down and time ahead races
As old decorations go back to their places

Then it is spring, the flowers a bloom
And then summer, the grass yellow
Birds in the air fly up and zoom
And then it is fall, and all is mellow

But then it is Christmas once again
Unpack those boxes, put up that tree
Back to how it once had been
When the house was filled with glee.
