Sonnet: The Needy

174 5 3

To see the brokenhearted alone,

The drunkard on the street passed out,

A child that's never lived in a house,

Isn't our purpose to share with those?

As we walk through this cold and dark world,

A beacon of light for all to see,

Being salt for those in need,

Should not our lives mirror The Word?

A kind touch could pierce the soul,

An encouraging word could lift a heart,

Soft eyes could give life to a spirit,

The simple things that make one whole.

For if we lived a life He lived;

To all, we would freely give.
