Speaking of Jones, she and the audino were walking up to Ivy.

"They are making what is called an obstacle course. Do you know what that is?"

"Yeah, I do. I've been through some myself."

Jones lifted her left arm up to her chin.

"Actually, could you ask them if I could go through it? I haven't had a good run in a while."

"Sure! I was going to ask if I could join in as well."

Ivy translated the message to the Espeon and Blitzle.

"Yeah, you and she can go through the obstacle course. It'll be a competition!" The Blitzle exclaimed.

"If that is the case, then you two can wait over there." The Espeon pointed a foreleg at a box near the fountain.

Ivy nodded and motioned Jones to come with her vines. Jones followed and waited by the box with Ivy.

"So we're racing against each other? Great! When does it start?"

Ivy looked back at the Blitzle and Espeon. They were still talking to each other, but the other pokemon in the park started to pay attention to Ivy and Jones. The extra pairs of eyes didn't bother either of them, but it made Ivy wonder when the race will start.

After a few more seconds of waiting, the Blitzle came up to Ivy and Jones.

"Since your friend can't speak pokemon, you can translate for us. Okay?"

Ivy nodded.

"Alright. The race around the obstacle course will consist of one lap around the fountain. Espeon and I will wait right here so you know when to stop. You two will need to go over the boxes that are placed in your way. You can use any method to go over the boxes as long as you don't destroy them."

The Espeon approached with a stick floating above it.

"When I lower the stick, the race will start. "

Ivy translated the message to Jones. She nodded her head and face forward. Ivy wasn't sure, but she thought that there was an ambitious look in her eyes.

"Hey, let us have fun with this race. Okay?"

"Sure. You can have fun because I'm going to win."

Ivy caught onto Jones' teasing manner but didn't know how to respond. It didn't feel right to jab back, but she wanted to say something.

"I'm not sure about that but good luck anyway!"

Jones' only response was a light chuckle.

Ivy turned her attention forward as well. She focused on the Espeon and the stick floating above it. When it lowered, Ivy took off.

The first box was half a foot tall, only about a fourth of Ivy's height. She jumped over it with ease but was concerned about how Jones was handing it. Only slowing down a smidge, Ivy looked behind her. She saw Jones jump over the entire thing with a good couple of inches of clearance. She landed with both feet on the ground, smiling. Jones continued with the momentum and ran forward, closing the gap between her and Ivy. Ivy took this as a sign to focus back on the race and speed up.
