Chapter 31 - Flower Road

Start from the beginning

"Okay." She took a deep breath. "One song was the one I sang for my audition back at my old company and the other was the last true love song I have ever written."

Sitting in front of a small keyboard that was there for the former presentations. Luna closed her eyes before hitting the first string.

One band aid at a time.

"You see, I have told many people I entered the business because of a broken heart. But it was not from a love interest as I have always said. It was from a loved one. This song is called  Flower road." She said closing her eyes and playing the keys of the keyboard as she heard the cheers from her peers in the room.

"The world is so cold
Colder than when I lived in you
You gave me enough love and when I felt
That it was too much I grew up
To raise a single flower
How much rain fell in your eyes?"

She sang softly, her voice full of air almost if speaking a kind poem. She tried to fill her mind up with good memories.

"Oh rewind, the more I think back, the more I'm sorry
So I won't give up
You gave up your youthful and beautiful season
Look at me, I have bloomed
Even if I fall to the ground
I will make you walk only on flower road"

She sang with her chest, ending with a beautiful and delicate head voice, very sweet and full of gratefulness. Almost as if being pushed in a swing, comfortable and safe at first then light when up in the sky in a spring day.

"When I looked at your lips
There was a smile but there were also wrinkles
You gifted me with life
I'm so thankful for the words, I love you"

Her voice held emotions and a beautiful smile while singing, her eyes shut close.

"To raise a single flower
How much rain fell in your eyes?

Oh rewind, the more I think back, the more I'm sorry
So I won't give up
You gave up your youthful and beautiful season
Look at me, I have bloomed prettily
Even if I fall to the ground
I will make you walk only on flower paths"

As the song continued in a pause for instrumental. She took a deep breath. This song somehow ever since the weekend was easier to sing, even the air was easier to breathe. After realising so many things, remembering her past didn't bring her anymore sadness, it brought her gratefulness and joy for what she had lived.

"Even when winter comes
My heart is filled with scent of spring
Because of your love
That never withers"

She sang with firm conviction belting high notes, that contrasted with the soft tone she has used up until now.

"Oh rewind, time is like a short wind
Your time has become a flower pot
That holds me and doesn't shake
Look here, there's only happiness that remains
Lay everything down and hold my hand
I will make you walk only on flower roads"

She ended the song with soft words, and a light chest.

As Luna sang the last word she realised the commotion she had caused. Even though her face had a single tear that streamed down her face, the audience held many.

"This is definitely a no then." She said, wiping away the tear. "We don't want to cause a Great Depression at the opening."

Seeing that the mood was now heavy. Luna tried to think quick.

"I guess we will go with the second option than."

Scratching her head a bit she went to hug Maya. Although the girl was a strong rapper, in real life she was a big cry baby. Very sentimental.

"Oh my god." Luna said as the girl took the embrace and continued to cry even harden. "there, there."

"I miss my mom." The girl said, making everyone lift a brow. Unlike other companies, Moonlight allowed their members to live wherever they wanted, they only had to report their whereabouts for safety reasons. Maya in specific still lived with her parents.

Laughing a bit Luna recorded the moment in her mind. So peaceful. In a few seconds however the door abruptly opened, giving space for a out of breath  Mathews to burst through.

"Luna I need you on the office now." He said in heavy breaths. Droplets of sweat appearing in his flushed face. Looking at the two secretaries besides her, he made sure to add. "Only Luna."

Letting go of the girl in her arms she was worried. Just when things were going good.

"I'm sorry, I will have to end the meeting now. See you all tonight." The woman said in a hurry before following after the boy.

"What happened?" She asked in quick steps, as the man speed to the elevator.

"Your ex husband happened. And you are not going to like the ruckus that he brought along with him."

In another part of the city, a blonde man sat on his chair, his veins popping with irritation, his temper worst than ever. His blue eyes veiny. Making the pretty boy look be replaced by a killer demeanour.

"Are you sure of it?" The man on the other side of the line asked.

Noticing that the normally hard to read man was so blunt about it. The man didn't doubt any further. Afraid of what could happen.

"I want him gone. I don't care about the means." He said through his teeth. "He chose the worst song to sing, so let it be his last song."
