Nightmare

Being accustomed to drowning,
I began to see the depths of water as my safe place.

It's quiet, calming, and serene.

But when I start to float back to the surface, it drags me down yet again.

It wraps me around the head and embraces me with its scales.

It whispers to me an unsung lullaby as I go through an illusive dream.

A world of never-ending skies greets me, no lands, no water, and no drowning.

As I skyrocket through the spun sugar-like clouds across the wide space painted with different shades of blue, I whisper a false epiphany in my head...

"Ahh...I can fly at last"  I said.
