The general mood of the students as they entered the gym was a combination of excited and worried. Reactions to Mystique's parting comment to them were mixed.
"I'm pretty sure she's just over exaggerating!" Mina said, pulling on her gym uniform. "Like, our normal training is pretty brutal as it is, I don't know how much worse it can get."
"Yeah!" Hagakure agreed. "I mean, she can't do anything illegal like torture us either!"
"As long as it passes as training, she can do what she likes as a pro-hero," Yaoyorozu murmured, tightening her ponytail. Jirou, who had heard the comment, looked at the taller girl with concern. Yaoyorozu didn't return her gaze, turning away instead.
"We have to be prepared to face every situation," Tsuyu reasoned. "We're going to be pro-heroes one day, if the training was easy and nice it wouldn't do much for us." Uraraka nodded in agreement, but Yaoyorozu didn't appear to be assuaged. The girls left the training room together and entered the main room of the gym. Most of the boys were already there, chatting idly or eyeing Mystique. As soon as Aoyoma, the last person out of the changing rooms due to the need to fix his hair, had arrived, Mystique clapped a couple of times to get everyone's attention.
"Alright everyone! We're just meeting up here, because this room is nowhere near big enough to train in. Nezu had a special room built, so we'll be heading there!" With a perky smile, she motioned for the students to follow her, and she walked brusquely out of the gym. There was some excited whispering, which only intensified as the group approached a large, dome looking structure. It was huge, large enough to house a mall or a rollercoaster. Mina gaped up at the dome, having to crane her neck almost all the way back.
"When did this thing get built?!"
"I think Cementoss finished it last week," Midoriya answered her. "We were told it was for the Sports Festival next year, but I guess that was just a cover."
Mystique's two sidekicks were standing in front of the double doors, waiting for the group to arrive. The blonde pro-hero stopped and turned around, motioning to the two girls.
"These two are my favorite sidekicks. Why don't you two introduce yourselves?" Midoriya had pulled a notebook out of seemingly nowhere, and his eyes sparkled with excitement at taking notes on more heroes. Shinsou sighed, probably wondering how he was friends with someone so energetic.
The first girl had skin the color of obsidian, and bone white hair that was cropped in a short bob at her chin.
"Hi guys! I'm the volcanic hero, Magma!" As she spoke, her visible skin began to glow red-hot. Turning to the side, she spit a fountain of lava, incinerating a bush near the building. She smiled sweetly at them, wiping the corner of her mouth to catch a stray drop of lava. Her hero costume consisted of knee-high orange boots, bright yellow shorts, and a red crop top. She also had white fingerless gloves with black burns on them, and a pair of clear plastic goggles.
"I'm Blueprint," the other girl said, sounding much more bored. "I can't really demonstrate like Magma can, but my quirk allows me to automatically see how machines are built, and I can make sure they run smoothly. I'm good for support stuff, not really fighting." She shot a bitter glance at Mystique's back. It was clear that she didn't want to be there. She wore stretchy blue leggings, a light brown belt with tons of pockets and loops, and a white tank top with a pale blue button up on top. Her teal hair was tied back in a messy bun, and her cheeks and too-big mechanics gloves were smudged with grease. Midoriya made a mental note to introduce her to Hatsume; the two would probably get along great.
With the introduction out of the way, Mystique pushed open the double doors behind her and lead the class inside. Sero had to drag Mineta inside behind him, the smaller boy getting distracted by staring at Magma's thighs.
The large dome was empty, the concrete walls stretching blankly upwards for what seemed to be miles. The floor was slightly padded, but other than that, the facility was empty save for a large, whirring contraption in the corner. Mystique lead the group over to it, Blueprint hurrying to stand in front of it protectively.
"This machine will help us with the majority of our training," Mystique announced, motioning to it. It was quite possible that Blueprint would've attacked her if she'd even brushed against the machine. "It's fueled by Magma's quirk, run by Blueprint, and powered by my quirk." Iida's hand shot up into the air.
"How exactly does that work, if you don't mind my asking?" He asked loudly. Blueprint rolled her eyes in the background, while Mystique's smile widened.
"Magma supplies the power for the machine to run," she began, motioning to a compartment on the side of the contraption. "She has to supply lava every fifteen minutes or so to keep it at full power."
"And I spend those fifteen minutes drinking water, because spitting lava takes a bit out of your throat!" Magma added with a laugh, rubbing subconsciously at her neck. Mystique nodded, then continued.
"Blueprint makes sure the machine is working properly and, of course, makes repairs."
"Not to mention I built this shitpile," Blueprint muttered, nudging it with the tip of her worn boot. Mystique didn't bother to acknowledge her grumping, and spread her arms widely.
"My quirk is the main component! I place my hands against a specific panel, and it amplifies my quirk into a a much larger illusion." There was several "oohs" and "ahhs", Mystique clearly basking in it. She swirled some blue mist around her pointer finger. "This little beauty will be running most of your training. You'll all stand in the center of the room, and the illusion will be built around you. Your goal is to always escape from the illusion. There's an exit, and unless I've dictated or set up the course otherwise, you all have to make it out." All twenty one students stared at her with wide eyes, and she giggled. "What? Don't look too intimidated! I'm not even making the illusion courses!" She pointed dramatically at them. "You all are!"
