Awkward

It has been 3 days since my dad hit me and things are getting better with Harry. We've been very close lately eventhough we received strange glances from the kids at our school. But like Harry said "Let's not give a fuck about them"

Harry met my mother the last time he came to my house and told me Mom was lovely. Dad didn't returned home ever since and I don't really care about him.Harry didn't seem to be happy when I cut myself though. He just keep repeating why and I am almost positive that his eyes were glossy but no tears came out. After that he hugged me so tight that I felt so needed.

The school bell rings and that means school is over so I head towards my locker to grab my stuff for the mathelete training. The competition starts in tomorrow. Jeez, I really need to do some revision.

I took out my phone and texted Charlie to pick me up around 6. That's when I felt warmth behind me.

"Hey babe"

Harry has been calling these nicknames for me lately and I couldn't help but blush. Sometimes he'll call me sweetheart, love , darling . No one has ever call me those names before. So I couldn't help but feel the butterflies in my stomach.

"Hey Harold" I turn to face him with a big smile.

"Stop calling me that." He pinched my cheek while I batted his fingers away.

"As much as I love to talk to you, I have mathelete things to be taken of."

He pouted his lips. "I thought we were going to buy a dress for you."

"Dress?" I ask. Harry chuckled when he looked at my baffled face. Why the heck should I buy a dress?

"For the dance, silly." He answers with a huge grin.

Oh I forgot about that.

"I'm not going" I state.

He looks confuse for a moment. "Well why the hell not?"

I sigh "Well, I don't like to dance and I don't have a date."

"Then you should come with me..." He trails off. "I mean if that's okay" he adds.

Me going with him? I mean that would be awesome but he's like the purple haired version of James Dean and I'm just me. I mean there would be girls prettier than me that deserves to go with him.

Instead of saying that, I say "I don't like to dance."

"No, you're lying. Is it because you're ashamed of me?" He questions. I saw a tint of sadness across his face before he regain his composure.

Goddamit Harry.

"No,no, it's the complete opposite to be honest." I sigh before adding. "If we attend the dance together, we would be like the beauty and the beast. I'm the beast and you're the beauty. You deserve someone prettier than me."

Harry looks at me before taking my face in his hand, chuckling. " You are perfect than any other girl I laid eyes on."

Harry giggles when he saw me flushed. He let his hand down and stuck them in his jeans pocket."I'll pick you up at 6. See you" he winks before giving me a flying Kiss.

I shook my head to myself, clearly still somehow feel shy around him. I am lucky to have someone like Harry.

"Okay, as you all know the competition is starting tomorrow, so do a lot of revisions especially the ones you're not good at. We need to win this year and prove to the other schools that we can do this." Mr Yang announces. I suddenly felt nervous. The day I dreaded to live is about to happen tomorrow.

Well who told you to join the math club in the first place, noob?

"You can all go home now"

I grab my backpack and head towards the door. I texted Charlie that I'm going home with Harry. He replied a simple 'ok' when suddenly I felt a tap on my shoulder.

"Hi Emma"

I turn around to face a happy Jenny with her glorious pigtails.

"Jenny..Hi"

"Are you nervous for the competition tomorrow ?" She questions.

"I mean.. Yeah. really have to do a lot of exercise though"

"I'm sure you'll do great Emma " Jenny says with a huge smile.

"Thanks Jenny, that's sweet of you to say" I reply

Our conversation went to a halt and I thank god for Harry being here. Because I didn't want to prolong this awkward small talk.

"See you Jenny"
