Chapter Twenty-Six

Start from the beginning

I lose track of time.

I cry.

Once it starts, I can't stop it.

Flynn finds me sitting at my desk, sobbing over a video of myself that I can't remember at all.

-

Flynn

I'm at Louis' house right on time.

His mum lets me in, and tells me he's in his room.

I head there, and the door's open.

He's sitting at his desk, sobbing.

On his computer screen is a video of him.

It's from his time on the X-Factor.

The time he can't remember.

“Louis” I say softly.

He turns around and sees me.

“Why can't I remember?” he whispers, his voice breaking.

I walk into his room, and he stands, tears still streaming down his face.

I rush forward and give him a hug.

He buries his face in my shoulder and cries as I hold him.

-

Eventually, he seems to have run out of tears.

“I'm sorry” he says, stepping back.

“It's fine, you have nothing to be sorry for” I say.

“I shouldn't have been watching those videos” he says.

“Don't worry about it” I say. “I get it. C'mon, let's go get dinner.”

His mum should probably block YouTube, too. He could find thing he shouldn't be able to see yet. Things more recent than the X-Factor.

“Give me a minute” he says, wiping his eyes with his shirtsleeve. “I don't want mum or my sisters to see.”

“Dinner!” his mum calls, from downstairs.

We both laugh.

He walks to the bathroom and splashes water on his face.
