“The Queen was acting weird when I was talking to her,” said a man. This man was dressed in the red uniform of the Southern Kingdom. This uniform consisted of a red coat, with black buttons down the side, and black pants. It was a little old-fashioned, more so than the other kingdoms, who include the latest fashion technologies in their high-tech suits. The Queen wanted simple, effective uniforms, so she could easily distinguish her soldiers from the rest.
“How so?” said a second man. This man was at the wheel of the hover-craft. He was in a basic pilot uniform, and the cap had a red band on it, indicating he was of the South.
“I don’t know. She usually is huddled up close next to Noah, but there she was just sitting a little far away from him. She was also a little spaced-out, which she never is. I know from guarding her training that she is always focused, and in the present.”
“That’s strange. What did you say?”
“I just asked if she was hurt during the attack and if she needed assistance. Now that I think of it, King Noah was acting weird, too. Not weird like she, but strange, like they didn’t even know each other.”
“Maybe they don’t.”
“What do you mean?”
“I mean, I think we have a case of Merkenwater.”
