Klaus was too distracted to enjoy the party. Yes there was blood, booze, and beautiful girls, but he kept thinking about Emma. His Emma. The music was loud, which Klaus would have enjoyed, but not today. He sat at one of the chairs at the dining table just looking in at Marcel talking to a few vampires. Whenever Marcel looked at him, Klaus gave him a small smile. Marcel loved Emma, too, but in a different way. They used to be best friends. Two peas in a pod.

He remembered one night he came downstairs to Marcel attempting to teach Emma the piano. She kept playing "Mary had a Little Lamb", to Marcel's dismay. It was nice to hear their laughs.

After Emma left, Klaus couldn't look at Marcel the same. It just brought him pain. Maybe that was why he woke Rebekah up early. He just wanted Marcel to be occupied so he could wallow in his misery alone.

While being stuck in his thoughts, a phone started to ring. Maybe it was the ringtone that intrigued Klaus, or maybe it was the fact that the ring came from a phone discarded on the chair next to him. It was Madeline's phone, and she must have accidently left it here. The ringtone was 'Pony' which he knew was Emma and Madeline's theme song.

He reached over and grabbed the phone. He saw Emma's name sprawled on top. Emma was Facetiming Mads. Klaus grabbed the phone and ran to a quiet room upstairs. He looked at the phone for a second, thinking about how he hasn't seen Emma in 150 years, and then answered.

_____

Emma was in the backseat of Stefan's car with Caroline passed out asleep on her lap. Stefan was driving, Elena was in the passenger seat, and even though it was Illegal, Lexi was in the back trunk of the SUV. Lexi claimed she wanted some room, and being wedged next to Caroline and Emma wasn't her dream.

Lexi was already asleep as was Elena. The only ones awake were Stefan and Emma. They didn't talk, but just enjoyed the silence. Stefan, luckily, brought Emma's phone with him, which she was currently playing Pokemon Go on. After a solid hour of trying to catch them all, she decided to try to call Madeline. She knew she had to call her to tell her she was okay, but Emma just didn't want to talk about being kidnapped. She knew if she talked to Madeline she would cry, and she didn't want too.

Emma facetime Madeline. No one answered for the first few rings, and then she did. Or she thought she did. The screen was black. Emma just thought Madeline sleep answered, which makes this even easier for her. Madeline has a habit of answering the phone while she was sleeping. Emma Had no idea how she managed to do it, but she frequently did.

"Hi hun," Emma said into the phone. On the other side, Klaus was just shocked about seeing Emma's face. She had a blood smear on her right temple, her mascara was running, and her lip had a small cut on it. Klaus felt too many emotions. Happiness about seeing her again, anger that someone hurt her, sadness that he knew he would lose her again.

He didn't speak, because he didn't want to ruin the moment with her hanging up on him.

"You're sleeping aren't you. We need to bring you to a sleep therapist because this is just weird," Emma laughed into the phone.

"Who are you talking to?" Stefan asked in the background.

"Mads, gramps," Emma said. Klaus was surprised how Emma maintained some sort of happiness even with everything that happened, "You'll never believe the day I had. It was hell. I was kidnapped, got some sort of brain injury, twice, and saw Elijah, Rose and Trevor who all knew me. Like I know I am awesome, but when Elijah hugged me That was when all bets were off. Like how do they know me?" Emma said into the phone, and wiped some blood off her eyebrow. She had some of Stefan's blood, but the dried blood didn't go away. Klaus knew that Emma had no idea how all the originals knew her, "I just miss you so much. I miss our binge watching of TV, making random dung beetle noises, and us fantasizing about hot guys." Klaus did not like that last part.
