''It was a long time ago... I mean, it was a long journey for me to heal from...this...'' My gaze shifted from him to the lake as I admired its sparkling water.

''I would've been 7 or 8 when my mum decided we needed to move to a new house, in a completely new city, with completely strange surroundings. To be honest, I was happy. I didn't have any friends back home, so I thought I could start a new life...a better life for me.''

''Did you?''

''Yeah...yeah, I did.'' My smile was slight but sincere, packed with emotions from the past. ''I went to a new school,-''

''To what?'' I giggled at him as he rolled his eyes.

''School is a building, where you get the education and make lifetime friends,'' A long, heavy sigh left my lips as I continued with the story. My story. ''I'll skip some details, but I made a few friends, some were fake... some just were... None of them meant anything to me nor I meant anything to them. We just hung out sometimes...that was pretty much it, but it was better than being isolated like I was back before we moved.''

''There was a boy at school who used to annoy me...''

''Like me?'' He chuckled at me but I shook my head.

''You're a lot like him, unfortunately."

''What'd he do?'' His tone flicked to serious in a millisecond as I smiled bitterly.

''To me? nothing, but he ruined my best friend's life.'' A tear slid down my face without me noticing but nothing could stop me from talking right now. I had to let this out.

''Her name was Amara, beautiful name huh? She was a divinely beautiful girl even in her childhood. Everyone was admiring her and her many talents. I still doubt the fact that she was human at all.'' A laugh escaped my lips as I remembered what she did when I told her this, she whacked me over the head with a pillow, -you-silly-girl- she said while blushing. The interesting individual she was.

''She sounds fine,'' *You're bloody gorgeous yourself, lass* He coughed out a little suspiciously but I let it slide.

''She was more than that, she was my one and only best friend. Had been for six years.'' I couldn't stop the tears anymore so I just let them flow. ''It was her birthday, 15th birthday, we threw a huge party for her, by me I mean the school... It was magnificent, just what she deserved. She's always had male attention, but never from the only boy, she had a crush on. The one I mentioned before...Mike.'' I spelled his name like it was venom and continued with the storyline. ''On that night, he showed up and confessed to her, huh, Amy was over the moon...only if she knew...''

''They left the party earlier than the rest of us, I wish I knew back then what was the case, I wouldn't have let her go...I remember her excited smile as she waved goodbye to me...If I knew...If I knew that was the last time I'd see her smile...I wouldn't...I wouldn't have let her go, Peter...'' He took my trembling hand in his warm one as I continued to cry silently for her.

''We couldn't find her the next day...She would never spend the night out like that... She never did anything that would make her family worry... I found her...I found her under the very bridge we met, it was our safe place... But he ruined it...I found her... She...s-she was bruised and c-cold... very c-cold... She wasn't waking up... She wasn't... S-she left me... all because of him... She was gone, Peter and I just sat there... I sat there and hugged her... She was cold...So cold...''

"I was a horrible friend to Amy and I'm a horrible friend to Wendy. I can't protect her either."

I clung onto his shirt, shaking, with my tears flowing and soaking his shirt, he seemed as if it didn't matter to him as his arms wrapped themselves around me. I hate not feeling trapped. He hurts Wendy every day. I fail her every day.

''Sometimes memories are the worst form of torture, but they are the ones who built us into people we are today. Our past is something we shouldn't forget, it holds our mistakes and the mistakes are the only things that can make us walk the right path. Sometimes you will never know the value of a moment until it becomes a memory. Those we love don't go away. They walk beside us every day. Unseen, unheard, but always near, still loved, still missed and very... very dear. I'm sure she's here, with you... And from what I've learned... She wouldn't like seeing you like this...'' His words echoed in my mind for a long passing minute until I let them make their way to the deepest part of my heart. Her part...

''I understand what you felt about Wendy... I am quite sorry about that... I'll make it right...'' There it is... the shudder from deep within...

My eyes found his sincere dark ones that spread warmth through my entire body, tingling on my skin... His eyes moved down slowly and fixed their gaze upon my lips...I wish these tingling would stop, it feels like fire within my bones...Our eyes met again...my palm could feel his heart thumping...in sync with mine...We were hesitant and nervous...our lips hovering inches from each other for a few seconds before they just barely brushed. It was just a soft press, tender, but it ignited our entire bodies...

It was over before I knew and I could feel his breath on my face... My eyes opened slowly still in need of confrontation that all this was not a dream... His breathy smile made me smile as I buried my blushing face in his soaked shirt...listening to his heartbeat...

It was you, Amy, wasn't it?
