Hey, sorry this isn't a new story but it's a fact I found in a book I got and I found the meaning behind Gamzee ,Kurloz and Grand high bloods last name Makara
Makara is given to more than one composite creature in the traditions of India , Indonesia and Thailand.
The word itself simply means 'sea monster' , but it has more than on incarnation in a variety of different forms. Some see if as a Huge crab, others as part crocodile and part bird or even more strangely as a deer with a fish tail. On Hindu temples , it is found carved around doors and acts as a guardian to these sacred places. The gods Ganga and Varuna have both been depicted riding upon its back, as has Vishnu
