Why (Ruby)

You quickly sit down and start to eat your lunch quickly to calm your nerves down as you feel B/F/N's eyes on you.

You turn to face her with your mouth full of chicken from the chicken wings. You said what through your mouth full of food and B/F/N shakes her head not knowing what to do with you.

"I'm telling you. He's crazy about you." B/F/N said as you chew.

"No, he's not. It's just a really sweet guy." you said and you gained a small pink blush because Ruby's face came into your mind.

"Not only sweet, but crazy about you! He looks at you like you're his world!" said B/F/N.

"Nah. It's nothing. I swear, he doesn't like me." you said as you opened your applesauce. You start eating it with a spoon.

"Whatever you say. You're fooling yourself. Anyway, we need to go shopping after school for the winter dance. It's next Friday." said B/F/N changing the subject.

"Oh yeah, I forgot. Man, this school year is going fast." you said as you looked at your bestie.

"Yeah. Can't you believe that we are almost 11th graders?" asked B/F/N with a smile.

"Nope. Half of our high school years will be over once we start winter break." you said.

You two sighed and then started talking about other stuff til lunch was over and it was time to go back to class.

You and B/F/N walked into the gym in style with dresses that made you stand out from everyone at the dance two weeks later.

Everybody stared and whispered as you entered the gym. Without you realizing, Ruby's jaw dropped once he saw you in your dress.

You and B/F/N sat down at a table that wasn't taken yet and sat down with your purses.

"We totally made an entrance! See? My fashion skills are on point!" said B/F/N proud of themselves.

You giggled and turned your head to see the dance happening in front of you. You looked around and up to see beautiful decorations all around the gym making the gym a winter wonderland.

"This is amazing. Do you want to take a picture together?" you asked.

"Oh course! Duh!" said B/F/N and both of you got up and walked over to the place where photos were being taken at.

You guys arrived and then you got photos taken together and then have photos taken individually.

You were still taking photos by yourself until Ruby walked over to your side and stood right next to you.

"Ruby, what are you doing?" you asked, kinda surprised.

"I...wanted to take a photo with you." said Ruby, kinda stuttering and shy. You felt your heart skipping a beat repeatedly and started to make your right hand shake.

"Oh...sure." you said shyly and the photographer took a few photos of you and Ruby. A few minutes later, you and Ruby walked away from the photo booth.

You spun around a bit to find B/F/N making out with another dude in a corner.

"B/F/N is at it again." said Ruby knowing how they can be like.

"She always does this at every party. I hope she can control herself tonight." you said.

An hour later, you ended up with Ruby walking a very drunk B/F/N home.

"Never-mind about what I said earlier. She can't control herself! D*mnit B/F/N! Can you not get drunk at every party?!" you shouted and B/F/N responded but it was unclear.

You finally took B/F/N home and started walking back home with Ruby together since your houses ain't that far from each other.

You start to shiver as the cold wind goes through your skin. You forgot that you went to the dance with a dress on along with no coat to cover yourself up.

"Here." said Ruby as he took off his suit jacket and put it around your shoulders.

"Thank you." you said and Ruby nodded in response. He turned his head and looked at you as you were putting on his jacket.

A few moments passed with silence which caused tension between both of you. Ruby couldn't take it no more.

"Y/N?" asked Ruby as he looked at you and you looked at him. Ruby stopped walking, grabbed both of your hands which made you stop walking and turn your body to him.

"I can't do this anymore. I want to be with you. I wanted to be with you before I dated Olivia. I tried to get over you but she wasn't you. Dating her was a big mistake. I'm in love with you, Y/N. Do you love me too?" said Ruby confessing everything and looking deep into your eyes.

You have a shocked face because he just confesses everything.

"I...love you too." you said shyly and then Ruby quickly kissed you.

"I'm so sorry! I was just-"

You kissed him to stop his sentence and then Ruby kissed you back in the cold night.
