Prompt: [Y/N] has Tourette Syndrome and doesn't tell Hermione out of shame. Classmates make fun of [Y/N] and Hermione won't have none of that nonsense.

It was lunch time when [Y/N], a Hufflepuff, entered the Great Hall. The room was rather empty and she had no idea where to sit, not until she spotted her good friend (and to be quite honest, long time crush) Hermione Granger sitting by herself in the Gryffindor table. A smile formed on her lips as she decides to approach her.

"Hi, Hermione! Can I sit with you?" [Y/N] inquired with a shy smile.

The Gryffindor looked up from her book and offered her dear friend a warm smile, nodding. "Of course! You're quite early for lunch, aren't you?"

"Yes," [Y/N] muttered as she took a seat next to Hermione, "You see, I don't enjoy eating when there's too many people around me."

The Hufflepuff reached for a chicken leg and some bread, eating slowly. Despite being mostly quiet, Hermione swore her friend had been muttering words to herself throughout the entire meal. They would engage in conversation often, but she couldn't help but notice certain things [Y/N] did. Out of nowhere, her arm would spasm, or she'd find her blinking or clicking her tongue.

"Hey, [Y/N] are you okay?" the bookworm asked with concern, noticing how these small 'tics' seemed to grow more repetitive.

"Yeah, I think I'm going to the Black Lake for a little-," [Y/N] began speaking, but what left her mouth next surprised Hermione.

"I'm sorry, but did you just say 'turtle'?"

"Oh," the Hufflepuff whispered and clicked her tongue even harder, "I don't think so."

Quickly, the [H/C] girl made her way our of the Great Hall, being followed by Hermione all the while. Hermione had met [Y/N] a year ago and she'd lie if she said she didn't find a certain attraction towards the Hufflepuff. She was sweet and kind, and she'd always see her trying to cheer a friend. Despite being on her 4th year, Hermione would often meet up with [Y/N] to learn more about 5th year subjects and what they would learn; it would come to the point where she would end up teaching [Y/N] instead. She loved the fact there was another muggle-born like her.

Her thoughts were interrupted when she witnessed a group of 5th years, most likely people who shared a subject with her friend, approach the Hufflepuff. They started pushing her around, laughing at her.

"Hey, turtle girl! Loved this morning's little act you put on. Did you try to get out of a group assignment?" A Ravenclaw boy laughed.

"No! It's a condition!" [Y/N] yelped when she clicked her tongue harder; Hermione noticed how her eyes were blinking rapidly. "I-I can't control certain things! I-"

Another Ravenclaw boy approached her and pushed her hard to the ground. "Oh, yeah? Like you said 'I'm gay,' to the whole class as well? Was that a condition too? Fucking dyke."

As Hermione approached them, she cast a spell under her breath that made the group stiffen and fall to the wet, muddy ground. She reached for the Hufflepuff's hand and took her to Hagrid's hut; she knew they wouldn't be bothered there. She knocked on the man's door and waited patiently. [Y/N] never uttered a word.

The half giant man opened the door and offered them a smile, "Hello there 'Mione! What brings ye t' my hut? Oh, ye brought a friend!"

Hermione smiled kindly at the man and walked inside, helping [Y/N] take a seat. Fangs approached them and set his head on top of the Hufflepuff's lap. The older girl smiled softly and petted the wrinkly dog, attempting to avoid looking at Hermione. Hagrid poured some tea for the two girls and handed over the cups, earning a rather loud "Woo-hoo" from the Hufflepuff.

Hermione observed her crush quietly, sipping on the hot drink. It wasn't the best tea she's had, but she'd neve show it to Hagrid. The man had always been so sweet to her and her friends. Her gaze flickered towards [Y/N] once more and noticed how she was, once again, mumbling under her breath. How had she never noticed these tics of her before? The bookworm prided herself in knowing nearly everything, so not noticing how her crush seemed to display some sort of tic... It bothered her; she was worried over her friend's well being.

"[Y/N]? What happened earlier? What were those boys doing to you?" The bushy haired girl spoke softly, taking a seat next to the older girl.

"They were making fun of me because of this morning, nothing new," [Y/N] whispered with sadness, moving a little on her seat. "I have a condition called Tourette's Syndrome that makes me say and do things out of my control... This morning I started punching myself in the chest to the point I was briefly sent to the Hospital Wing."

Hermione covered her mouth in worry and placed her free hand over [Y/N]'s own as the latter clicked her tongue and made noises with it. She had heard about the syndrome, but she had never met someone who suffered from it.

"There's nothing wrong with that... Do the professors know?" inquired Hermione.

"They do, so I'm thankful for that. But it's so stupid, I shouted I was gay during a class! How idiotic is that!" The Hufflepuff sniffled and looked at Hermione after setting her tea cup over a table. Hagrid watched both of them quietly, but it didn't take long until he decided to give them some space.

"Come on Fang, let's go for a walk."

After the half-giant man left, Hermione turned her body towards [Y/N] and ran a hand over her cheek, sighing. "Don't worry about that... You can't control it. Out of curiosity... Are you really gay?"

The Hufflepuff blushed crimson red and nodded, looking down at her lap. Unbeknownst to her, Hermione had the biggest smile on her face.

"You see, 'Mione, I hadn't told anyone about that. I wanted you to be the first one to know, and thankfully the times I have said it by accident happened when I was alone. But it happened a few days ago during class and now everyone knows," [Y/N] confessed and started tapping on her chest.

"Why did you want me to be the first one to know?" Hermione asked softly and placed a hand over [Y/N]'s arm, stopping her from hurting herself.

The older girl blushed softly and looked at Hermione. She leaned over and pressed a kiss to her cheek, then stood up.

"You're my closest friend and well... I really like you, I wanted to come out as well as confess to you-" The Hufflepuff began, but got interrupted by herself. "Sheisse!"

Hermione looked at [Y/N] with a happy smile. She couldn't help but chuckle at the sudden tic, gently placing a hand over [Y/N]'s cheek.

"I know I shouldn't laugh at your tics, but you look so adorable," she whispered, pressed a kiss to her forehead and wrapped her arms around [Y/N]'s neck. "I really like you too, [Y/N]. Don't worry about the tics, if anyone tries to mess with you, they'll have to get through me first!"

"R-Really? Merlin! I didn't think you'd like me after finding out about my condition... B-but you do! Blimey! I'm so happy!" [Y/N] mumbled excitedly.

The bookworm couldn't help but melt at the Hufflepuff's rambling. She interrupted her by pressing her lips to hers, holding her close for their first kiss. It was like fireworks erupted inside of them, their mutual love making their hearts flutter with happiness. As they pulled away to breathe, Hermione pressed her forehead to [Y/N]'s, relishing the moment they were sharing together.

Just as the two were leaving Hagrid's hut, [Y/N] began to ramble on about how much she liked her girlfriend. The thought of calling Hermione that made her so happy that she-

"Turtle!"
