"You've always had my back. Now I've got yours."

Stood in front of the chapel mirror I run my fingers down the smooth white fabric. It hugs my top rather tightly, a bodice of lace wrapping my torso before the white sheer fabric falls in simplistic ruffles. Not too many, just enough to give the bottom enough volume to leave me worried about tripping in my white heels. Releasing a shaky sigh in an attempt to ease my anxiety I run my fingers through my straightened hair as I stare at myself in the mirror. I thought I would do many things in my life. I've always lived in the realm of extraordinary. Getting married? I never thought that was something I would get to have let alone to someone who I love. Going from criminal to hero doesn't exactly leave room to expect such mundane things such as a wedding.

Two days ago I'd been lying in bed with Bucky, his fingers running through my hair as I introduced him to the glory that is Will Ferrell. That is when he up and asked out of nowhere "Do you want to get married this week?" I was admittedly taken aback but the sudden question until Bucky explained "I don't know about you but I don't want a big fuss to be made. I just want to be married to you." When I'd sat there and thought about it I realised I don't want anything too big either. Just those who I actually cared about. Besides it's not like either of us has any family to invite; literally none. So I hunted us down a church and chose a dress. By chose I mean Bucky shoved me out of the apartment and ordered me to find a dress. That he said he wouldn't budge on and I couldn't help but laugh at how adorable it was when he claimed "That's one tradition I'm not ruining! Call me old- I don't care!"

So here I stand staring at myself in a gorgeous white wedding dress. As happy as I truly am my eyes can't help but wander to space beside me where Natasha and Tony would've been. My red-headed bridesmaid and the closet person I had to family to walk me down the aisle. Yet all that stands is an empty space as I gaze around the room alone. Stepping off the mirror step I take a seat on it. My thoughts can't help but wonder as I know our friends are gathering in the room not far away. I can hear Natasha teasing me about ruffles as if she's right here beside me, grinning as her emerald eyes glimmer mischievously.

"For a bride you don't look too happy."

Glancing over to Steve in his suit I arch my eyebrow curiously "Aren't you meant to be with Bucky? Out there with everyone else?"
