We walked into the house and I was immediately hit with the smell of alcohol, smoke and sweat.

"Oh my god do parties always smell like this" I shouted over the music

"Always" Ruel grimaced, "I'll go get us drinks"

I nodded as Ruel disappeared

"Hello mama" I heard someone say

I turned to see a guy about 18 walking up to me

"Hi" I replied bluntly

I could smell the alcohol in his breath and he wasn't even that close to me

"What are you doing alone?" He asked getting closer

I took a step back

"I'm not alone" I said firmly

"Well it sure looks like you are" he smirked

He reached for my wrist and grabbed it. I snatched it out and twisted his

"I said I'm not alone, now leave me" I muttered into his ear before walking off

I turned around and bumped into Ruel who was now holding drinks with a smile on his face

"Nice to see you can still handle yourself" he chuckled

I rolled my eyes and Ruel handed me a drink.

"Hey bitch what was that for" the guy shouted

Ruel and I turned and his arm snaked round my waist making me tense. He must've noticed because almost immediately it dropped

"I told you I wasn't alone and you continued to be an ass" I stated

"Whatever you weren't hot anyway" he scoffed

Ruel let out a laugh beside me and leant towards the guy. Even at 16 he was taller than him

"Between you and me, we both know that's not true" he said, "but I suggest you don't come around her again tonight, got it"

He seemed intimidated by Ruel, I'm guessing it was his height, so he left.

"You didn't need to do that, I could handle myself" I said

"Yes but, I'm not being a witness to murder tonight either" he grinned

"You're so stupid" I said rolling my eyes

I moved his arm around my shoulder and interlocked my fingers with his

"Is this okay?" I asked

He nodded with a small smile on his face

"I should be asking you" he chuckled

"Yeah well, I like you" I said pushing him slightly, "I can make an exception for a night"

"Ruel" we heard someone say

Ruel turned us and then his smile widened

"Ay Jay my man" he laughed

"You made it" he said before looking me up and down

"And you seemed to have found yourself a lovely little lady here" he said giving me a smirk

"This is Isla" Ruel said pulling me forward

I took a sip from the beer Ruel got me and waved my fingers

"Wait as in the Isla you wanted me to keep the secret from?" He asked
