Isla, Isla, Isla" a voice tutted interrupting mine and Ruel's conversation 

I looked up and saw a girl walking towards our booth

"Kimberly" I muttered darkly

Ruel went to turn around but I reached out to stop him. The curly black haired girl stopped at our table, her eyes focused on me.

"May I help you?" I asked in a sweet voice

"I heard all about your little antics yesterday, slamming my boyfriends face into a counter" she said

"Ohhhh yeah, the really cute guy that tried to hit on me. I wish I'd gotten his number" The sarcasm dripped venomously from behind my sweet voice

"You slut, I bet he did nothing of the sort" Kimberly said haughtily

I rolled my eyes but Ruel cut in before I could say anything

"Actually he did" he piped up, "I was there and watched the whole thing, you really might want to consider teaching him some manners"

Kimberly turned to him about to snap but I watched her do a double take when her eyes landed on him.

"You" She stuttered

"She knows you?" I asked raising an eyebrow

Kimberly was about to answer

"I'm quite well known at school" Ruel cut in

Kimberly narrowed her eyes at him and then looked back to me

"Of course you are pretty boy" I chuckled

"Anyways I better be off" she said sweetly to Ruel, "as for you"

She picked up the drink she brought with her and tipped it over my head

"Don't speak to my boyfriend again" she said

"1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9-10" I muttered under my breath

"Kimberly I'm giving you two seconds to walk away before I end your fucking life" I said as calmly as possible

"I'd like to see you try" she scoffed

I stood up but Ruel reached over the table and grabbed my hand pulling me back down.

"Kimberly, for your sake please walk away right now" he said, "I'm not being a witness to a murder today"

Kimberly rolled her eyes and walked away but not before blowing a kiss in Ruel's direction 

"Why didn't you at least let me get a hit on her" I pouted

"Because, as I said, I'm not being a witness to a murder" he said

I rolled my eyes

"You're stupid" i mumbled

Ruel laughed and I pulled my now drenched hair into a messy bun.

"I think we should go, you kind of look like a drowned rat" he said getting up

I gasped

"Asshole"

I threw a few of my remaining fries at Ruel and stood up.

"I'm paying by the way" I said stepping out of the booth

"I don't think you are" Ruel smirked

He dashed off to the counter and I tried to follow after him but I slipped due to the drink Kimberly poured over me

"I should've hit her" I growled

By the time I got to the counter Ruel had already paid

"Is there anyway you could cancel that and I pay instead?" I asked the waitress that served us

She laughed

"No I'm sorry, there isn't" she chuckled

"For fucks sake" I muttered

"Let's go you loser" he said pulling me into his side and ruffling my hair

"Get OFF me!" I whined and pushed his hand off my head

I looked up and only then did I realise how tall Ruel actually was, he was like a good foot taller than me

"How tall are you?" I asked

"6 foot 3" he answered keeping his arm around my shoulder as we walked out "And you're only 16!" I exclaimed, "damn I feel so small"

"Why?" He laughed, "how tall are you? Or should I say how short?

"Shut up" I moaned pushing away from me, "I'm 5 foot 5"

Ruel started laughing before I could finish my sentence

"But I'm still growing" I shouted over his laughter

"Sure you are" he chuckled

"Shut up" I mumbled, "are you walking me home?"

"Well do the guys usually walk their girl home after a date" Ruel said

"You can never answer a question straight can you" I sighed 

"Yes I'm walking you home Isla" Ruel said

"Okay" I smiled

The walk home was in silence but it was in no way awkward. For most of the way Ruel had his arm slung lazily over my shoulders and the weird part was, I didn't hate it. I usually hated any form of physical contact but I was strangely okay with this.

We turned onto the street my house was on and Ruel almost fell over.

"You live here?" He asked

"Yeah" I nodded

We got to my house in less than a minute since I was quite near the beginning of the street. 

"This is me" I said opening the gate 

"This house is so nice" he said

"My dad was rich" I shrugged, "my mum doesn't have to work another day of her life but she chooses to"

"What does your dad do?" Ruel asked

"He was a fucking brilliant Lawyer, one of the best in his firm" I smiled softly, "in the last 15 years of his life he was co-owner of the firm"

"He died" Ruel muttered softly

"Cancer" I whispered

"Isla I'm so sorry" He said

Ruel reached to pull me into a hug but I stepped back. A hurt look flashed across his face.

"Don't take it personally" I chuckled, "I dont even hug my mum usually"

"You don't?" He asked confused, "why not"

"I'm not big on physical contact" I shrugged, "they say it's something to do with my anger but I dunno. I'm working on it"

Ruel nodded

"Okay" he said, "I guess I'll see you soon"

"You will" I smiled before unlocking my door and walking in

It was weird coming home to an empty house. My mum rarely went on business trips but this was one she couldn't avoid.

It was only 5 and I literally had nothing to do but sleep or watch Netflix. 

"Why don't I have any friends" I groaned dragging myself up the stairs

When I got to my room, I stripped and hopped into the shower. I'm guessing Kimberly didn't pour water on me because it got a little sticky after a while. When I got out, I got into pj shorts and a tank top before going downstairs to make myself ham cheesy pasta.
