(Outskirts of Vale Scarlet's POV)
Scarlet could feel his anticipation, his anxiousness. She knew that he was scared, which in all the years they've been together, she's only felt a small, very small number of times. She didn't know the reason, and it was more than obvious he wasn't going to say for now, so she ran like hell. She had an inkling as to where he wanted to go, so without delay, they were making their way to the Vale Police Headquarters.
(Vale Police Headquarters Sophie's POV)
The lady in the police clothing said that Grandma and Grandpa were taken to the hospital so that they could be taken care of. I wanted to go with them because I somehow believed that what happened was my fault. I may only be twelve years old, but I am smart for someone so young. Harley even told me that I was close to where he was when he was my age. Just thinking of him makes me feel safe on the inside. While he may seem like a big, tough, and scary guy, really, he's a big softy. He may have had a hard past and be a trained warrior, but he is also someone like me. A person trying to find his way home, to those who love him.
I saw on the news the other day his story. I was crying by the end of it. My grandparents sat there holding and comforting me for almost an hour. To hear he had gone through something like that, I was terrified. It would also explain why he looked so disheartened when he gave the news of mom and dad to grandma and grandpa.
I was in the chiefs office sitting on a couch with a blanket around me while holding my stuffed bunny Mr. Fluffers and the necklace Harley gave me. Since he gave it to me earlier this week, I haven't taken it off once. I was absolutely excited to see my present when he gave it to me. The two nights we traveled together while I would pretend to be asleep, I saw him carving something white with an assortment of knives and tools. I wanted to know what he was doing, but I didn't want to bother him and cause him to mess up or cut himself. But when he revealed what it was, I thought that it was one of the greatest gifts I had ever received. The symbols carved into the eight sided bone shard were incredible to look at. It also reminds me of what he said. By wearing this until I unlock my aura, it will protect me no matter what. From what happened earlier tonight, what he said has been proven right.
That's when I picked up the slight sound of what I thought to be horse hooves running along the road. It wasn't until it had gotten closer that I knew who it was. I didn't know what I was doing. I just jumped from the couch and out of the ladies' office and ran towards the front of the building. She tried to stop me, and so did a lot of others, but because of my small size, I was able to get past them no problem. When I got to the front doors, I pushed them open and ran to the top of the steps to see them at the bottom.
(Same time Harley's POV)
Like so many times before, Scarlet could somehow tell that I was worried and my emotions as well as my state of mind were running wild. I didn't care what was going on, I only had one thing in mind as she carried me along like the winds of the Vacuo dessert in the middle of a sandstorm. Before long, we had made it to the city and were quickly weaving our way through the early night traffic. While the sun had already set, because of our enhanced sense of hearing and sight, it was easy to maneuver around and between them. Along the way we must have attracted their attention because even against the whispering of the wind in my ears (all four of them mind you) I could still make out the obnoxious chatter of reporters and the humming of their vans engines.
Pushing them to the back of my mind, I refocused on the task at hand, and without any further delay, I had reached the Vale Police Headquarters. And low and behold Sophie was already outside as if she had known I'd come for her. I quickly dismounted and met her halfway at the bottom of the steps holding her as she started to cry. I instantly started to try and calm her. But the small crowd that had gathered was not helping. That's when an idea popped up. It was a song mom used to sing to me when I was feeling scared as a child.
