This story started with the moon visible for all people to see. It was so high up the sky, its shape of a perfect sphere and shining brilliantly with its whitish light rays directing down on Earth. The moonlight guiding people to their destination with the borrowed light from the Sun, caressing people's skin and feet to go down their path with a light skip on their walk.
It also occurred that two people met by chance. A man and a woman. Strangers to each other, but they felt the connection when their eyes met, like they'd known each other for a long time. They didn't know what that meant, nonetheless, they quickly got along and became friends.
Not too long after, they began to be more than that, they became lovers who loved each other with their whole lives. It was also a full moon, and the moonlight shone above their heads when they had confessed to each other. It was a perfect and an irreplaceable memory for them both.
Months has passed since their confession and it's once again a beautiful spherical moon, its rays lighting the path for the lovers to their destination, a vast, wide and colourful bed of flowers which contained of daisies, marigolds, chrysanthemums and sunflowers. They were embracing, laughing and enjoying of each other's presence. They couldn't get enough of their partner because they were so in love that they thought the other person was their soulmate.
The next night, they were supposed to meet, but something unexpected happened... The woman got into an accident. He (the guy) was notified when an unknown number called his mobile phone, telling him that his love got into an accident and had major injuries to the head. He was shocked, he couldn't believe it! From where he was by the gardens, he went on a full sprint to the hospital where they told him where they would take her.
By the time he arrived at the hospital, he asked where his girlfriend was, and the receptionist told him the room number. Running to her room, he found the doctor who called him, and he asked how her condition was when he began to calm himself. The doctor told him that, although she had survived the surgery, there may be complications to her head and that she might not survive by the next few days due to major concussions and injuries to the head, also she succumbed to a sleep comatose at that time.
He froze. He was losing her, that's what he thought in that moment. He entered the woman's room and saw her sleeping, tubes and needles were connected to her body, a heart monitor by her side to indicate if her heart still beat. He took a sit beside her bed and took one of her delicate hands into his larger ones. He stayed by her side, taking care of her, he waited if she would open her eyes one more time, alas, she didn't. Nights had passed and he still stayed by her bed, holding her hand, pleading that she would wake up and kiss him like she used to do to him.
One night, and yet once again, it was a pleasing full moon shone from above her room's window. He came back from the canteen downstairs to eat and satisfy his hunger, although the food wasn't that great. When he entered the room, he heard a beeping sound from her monitor. He panicked. He called for nurses and doctors, when they entered the room, it was too late.
The heart monitor emitted a long beeping sound, indicating that the patient is dead. The medical staff tried to revive her, but they failed.
Devastated and dejected, he ran away from her room, went to the parking area and opened the door to his car. He wanted to clear his mind, although it was useless because he knew that this night would be the unforgettable night he ever had, and he also knew that this would scar his mind forever.
He had driven for hours and he didn't care for how long he had. He was driving until he stopped by the garden of vast flowers, the place where it all started, and the moon shining as always.
He stepped outside his vehicle and decided to sit down at the green grass. He looked straight ahead and sudden memories of him and her together came to his mind. He tried to stop the tears from his eyes to flow, yet the biological anatomy disagreed with him.
Tears started to slide down his cheeks and he let out a loud cry. He mourned for the death of his one true love, the one he thought he could marry and be together for the rest of his life. Irony, isn't it? On that day, before the woman met her unfortunate demise, he was supposed to propose to her.
While he was thrashing around the garden, destroying the flowers which were standing beautifully beside him, a metallic tool dropped from the pocket of his jacket. It was a multi tool.
He stooped, feeling the object dropped. He looked and observed it with calculating eyes. Time passed, a diabolical idea came to his mind. He sat again and then lain at the top of the grass. He lifted the tool above his face, the moon giving its rays to the offending object.
He took out the knife tool, lifted his left arm, slid down the sleeve jacket, pressed the knife to his skin, so that, it would pierce through. When he finally saw blood coming out of the cut he made, he thought he could be at peace now he was going to meet his love in the afterlife, and he did.
The last thing he saw before closing his eyes for the last time were the moon and its bright light, and his lover waiting with an outstretched arm to join her in their everlasting life in their own paradise.
