Sans perked up. "So when will my brother Awaken?"
"Eventually." It's the only answer any looper can give, really.
The skeleton nodded, a bit disappointed but mostly relieved that he won't be experiencing this alone someday.
But while Anchors will always be awake unless another Anchor from another loop is present (since a loop only needed a minimum of one anchor to stay stable), the other loopers are more random. They can be Awake in one loop then be Unawake for the next three loops, and so on.
The current loop they are in is a fused loop, which means two or more worlds either fused, had people from one world replace a local, or there are visitors from other loops without them replacing anyone. Sans himself is replacing Ash Ketchum, who is Pikachu's baseline and usual partner. Pikachu doesn't seem to be bothered, he said he was used to it.
"At least you're not Lina Inverse." The pokemon said with a shudder.
"Who?"
"The first thing she does upon Awakening is to test whether her weapon of mass destruction still works." He deadpanned.
"Ah..."
"Better you than that kid, Billy, too. Now," Pikachu flipped the chart to show the number two, "There are two abilities that all loopers share." He took the chart, glasses, and stick and made them disappear back into oblivion.
Sans sucked in a breath. "Did you put them in a pocket dimension?"
"Yep." Pikachu then taught him how to access his own, and Sans got it after a few tries. "It'll develop after some time and you'll be able to store more things inside. But for now you can store a few trinkets and small objects."
Sans held up a hand and pulled out his slipper. "Neat. What's the other ability?"
Then he felt a mental...something, from the pokemon. It was hard to decribe, but the closest was that it was almost like a sound.
"That was a ping. Loopers use it to let other loopers know that they're Awake." Then they felt a ping from a distance. Pikachu blinked and faced the direction it came from. "Ah, another looper is here too. I wonder who it is?"
The yellow pokemon turned back to him. "Now, where was I?"
It took almost two hours to explain everything to the skeleton. The things Pikachu told him about include, but not limited to, warning him about the Sakura Syndrome, which made Sans resolve to never get as bad as the pink haired ninja no matter how hopeless and depressed he's feeling, told him about Equestria which established themselves as a sanctuary loop and where Sans may or may not expect to be turned into a pony, and then the Hub.
The Hub is where all the different realities existed as various works of fiction. Pikachu's branch is the animated series of pokemon. The various games and mangas also have their own Anchors and Loopers. Sans...
"I'm not sure," Pikachu admitted, "I think your world is a game there, but I never played it. I did see you as a meme every now and then though."
Smile widening, Sans felt terribly amused, "Memes?"
"People also have the tendency to make puns around videos with you in it."
Sans chuckled and closed an eye, "What can I say, I'm a very punny guy."
Pikachu glared, "Don't."
It looked more cute than threatening, to be honest.
"Aw, that look on your face hertz my heart."
"Stop! I already had to deal with pun loops, I am not dealing with this!"
"Woah, there are pun loops? What a shock!"
"Pikaaaaaaaaaa-"
"Gotta say, all these stuff you're telling me are positively enlightning-"
"chuuuuuuuuuuuuu!"

Sans coughed and wiped away the soot coating him due to the attack. He huffed a laugh. "Wow, I thought I was dust there for a second."
Pikachu's annoyed looked became a little concerned. Ah, it seems he wasn't able to hide his shaking completely.
"Dust?"
"'S nothin'. I just have a really weak body. I tend to die, aka dissolve to dust, in one blow." Sans said, waving a hand dismissively, "But as you can see, I'm fine... Surprisingly."
Pikachu's eyes widened, "What, really? Why?"
Sans shrugged, "I only have one defense. Attack too, along with one base HP if I wasn't sleeping so much."
"You have that in your baseline?" Pikachu asked, baffled. Then paused. And shrugged. "Eh, not the weirdest I've seen. But we don't have stuff like here. Again, this is the anime variant, not the game, so no need to worry."
Sans stared at him, smile fading as the realization sunk in.
"So... I won't die from like, tripping over a rock and cracking my skull and stuff like that?"
"Unless you break your neck and other serious injuries, then no..."
"Hah... Hah.... Hahahahahahahahahaha!"
Pikachu patiently waited for him to calm down. He scratched an ear. He tapped his foot. He sneezed. Rubbing his nose, he said, "You done?"
The skeleton wiped a tear, "Hahaha... Haha... Haaaaa...Yeah, I'm done." He leaned back on the tree and went boneless in relief, "No wonder mini Paps wasn't too worried about me going off on my own. Papyrus back in baseline would be too worried that I would do something stupid and get myself killed."
Sans shifted and winced. "Still, that hurt. I think I'm still a bit weaker than the normal monster."
"Yeah, probably." The pokemon titled his head in thought. "Ash would've been acting and feeling like it never happened at this point."
"Anything else you need to tell me?"
"That's pretty much the basics I think. And make sure to learn as much as you can about different worlds you have or will end up in once you loop into the Hub. So," Pikachu smiled at him, "Now that you know what's going on, what do you want to do?"
Sans blinked slowly. What does he want to do?
He slowly looked around.
Green grass swayed gently in the wind, slightly tickling the exposed part of his legs. He looked up at the light filtering through the leafy canopy, bathing it in different shades of green and yellow. The sky seemed almost too bright, an endless expanse of light blue, fluffy white clouds floating peacefully by. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath of the fresh air.
He exhaled.
It's so...peaceful...
".... Sans?" The pokemon tentatively asked when the silence stretched for too long.
But the skeleton was asleep, a peaceful look in his face. Pikachu blinked, then huffed in amusement.
"Fine, then. Nap it is."
