"Here we go again."
Loop 6
Pounding on his door. Again.
This time, Sans didn't even shift.
"Sans! Wake up you lazy bones!"
Sans sighed. Yes, look out for humans and some such.
"You're late in getting your pokemon today! Hurry or they might run out!"
... Come again?
Then it finally registered in his brain that the voice outside his door was squeakier and younger than he remembered, and the fists that pounded on his door sounded smaller and considerably lower in position.
With a speed and urgency that he never displayed before, he jumped out of bed–
And fell on the floor with a loud and painful thud.
Ooooowwww...
A pause, then, "Are you awake? Great! You can go to Professor Alphys after you get ready!" Then footsteps sounded that turned fainter as the speaker walked away.
With one hand on the bed for support, the skeleton slowly got up from the ground. He then looked at the bed. Huh, that bed is a bit taller than he remembered. Then he looked down... Or rather, he mentally corrected himself, he's smaller than he remembered.
And like the first time he woke up with the previous run in his memory, he was utterly shocked and confused as he looked around. His room was the same as ever, down to all the dirty socks and the ball of sheets, except for a few key differences.
The self sustaining tornado he once had in a corner was now just a pile of trash, and there was a computer right next to his cabinet. He also noticed that he was wearing a shirt with a circular symbol on it.
Sans...didn't know what was going on. Did reality break when he wasn't looking? And what's pokemon?
He put on his usual outfit, except that he can't find his slippers anywhere so he settled for some shoes he found, and he noticed that the back of his jacket had the same circular symbol. Sans wondered what it meant, and whether it had anything to do with this "pokemon".
Deciding to play along for now to avoid suspicion while he looked for answers, he walked downstairs to the kitchen. Humming and the smell of burnt spaghetti wafted through the air, and Sans felt himself relax slightly at the familiarity.
The humming paused when he reached the doorway, and he saw a younger Papyrus standing on a stool while stirring the spaghetti with a wooden spoon. Seeing the younger skeleton like that, brotherly instincts suddenly rose up.
"Papyrus! Why are you cooking? You might get burnt!" He scolded worriedly as he quickly walked closer to take the spoon. He had never let his brother cook anything at this age, a burnt down house is the least of his worries. He tried not to let the sound of his own younger voice affect him too much.
"Nyeh!" His little brother squeaked and jumped down, holding his spoon away from Sans. "I wanted to cook you something special in this special day!"
"What're you talkin' about?"
Little Papyrus huffed. "Don't you remember? It's the day you go on your pokemon journey!" He grinned happily and he was practically vibrating in excitement. "Now I know you think it's too much work, but Sans! This will be an adventure! I'm sure you'll make lots of friends and you'll tell me lots of stories from your travels! Ooohhh, I can't wait until it's time for my own adventure!"
Sans stared, a bit dazed. An...adventure? What? Also... Huh, Papyrus was wearing a bananda the same color as his scarf, along with a striped orange shirt and brown pants. It's been a long time since he saw his brother without his "battle body", it was odd to say the least.
"Now," Papyrus said as he started to push Sans outside. "Go get your pokemon, and I'll pack your food for you! Undyne taught me her special recipe, and I'm sure you'll love it! Nyeh heh heh!"
The door had closed behind him when the memories hit. Sans flinched in surprise at the images and knowledge that suddenly rushed through his brain.
He was in a town called Pallet Town, living with his brother after their father disappeared years ago. In this world, humans and monsters lived in separate countries with a tentative alliance between them and there was no magic. Instead they all had these creatures called pokemon that they use to battle other people and monsters' pokemon.
At ten years old, it was time for Sans to start his 'pokemon journey' where he goes around the country training his pokemon team and battling gym leaders.
"..."
"What." Sans said because what.
