Christmas Blurb

A lone sprig of holly

A warm cup of tea

Thanks for the memories

I cherish the tree

One lonely gift

With a small handmade card

Sent from a friend

Sending peace and regards

They care for me for still

Though we haven't seen clear

And our time with each other

Stretching farther than years

We should be just strangers

We haven't been near

But gifts wrapped in paper

Still will appear

I send you a book

You send me a scarf

It goes on and on

But the lights don't grow dark

Our friendship will last

I know that it will

It has done so far

So why won't it still

I think time has told

Of his soldier's it's killed

Snow is outside

And my hearth here is lit

I look to my present

And smile as I sip
