"Mary!" A voice called. The young, beautiful Queen of England and Ireland looked up as she heard footsteps coming towards her. Greer, Kenna and James followed their Queen's path of sight and saw Bothwell rushing into the throne room.

"Bothwell, what is it?" Mary asked.

"It's Darnley." he started, breathing hard. She frowned. Darnley's mother had been hung six months ago for treason, just before Mary had gone to England for the grand coronation and had spent a few months in England and France, before recently returning to her native land. They still hadn't found the King Consort of England, Ireland and Scotland, however. He seemed to have vanished.

"What about him?"

"He's dead." Bothwell suddenly said.

"What?"

"He's dead. Last night, I've been told."

There were a few moments of silence.

"This is a good thing, right? This way, he can't bring Mary's downfall." she said.

"Possibly not. Even though he's dead, Knox's sheep still believe that a man should rule and not a woman, and some could spin this and make Mary out to be a villain. As if she planned this."

"Whilst I was still in France? And England?"

"Many turn fiction to propaganda if it gets them what they wish."

"This is true, but how can we protect Mary from this threat?"

"We simply must wait until the threat appears, then we execute whoever believes this or make them retract their statements."

"How?"

"Torture."

Mary looked around. All of this could happen. Did they awake a sleeping dragon by allowing Darnley to leave and die? Could that happen?

And then, the second ultimate betrayal.

"Bothwell, stop!" Mary cried as she was forced along the coridoors by a rough hand on her wrist. He'd taken her in the middle of the night and forced her in a carriage, and she had no idea where they were or what had made him so angry. "You're hurting me! What are you doing?!" she cried.

He suddenly whirled her around, forcing her close, arms tightening like a snake around her waist, forcing the breath from her lungs. She gasped for breath.

"All that time, I spent waiting for that Englishman to die, so I could take what's mine. Did you think I was loyal all that time? That I simply wished the best for you? If so, you will always be that naive little French girl, not knowing the difference between reality and an act. I bode my time well. So I could take the crown."

Mary's eyes widened. "No." She trusted this man with her life. It was all an act? It was all an act. It was for her crown. Her power.

"Yes." he grinned. He suddenly lurched from her and yanked her along again. "Come on!" he growled.

"No! No! Let me go!" Mary yelled as she was yanked into another room. Realisation dawned on her. It was a protestant church. He was going to force a marriage. "No! No! I will not! You can't do this!" she yelled as he forced her, now crying, down the isle and turned her to him, in front of a bishop.

Hey everybody!

Not quite sure if I've put an author's note in this story or not, but I haven't, heyy! It's your author here!

Just a little notice for you all, this story sent feature much on screen reign stuff from now on. We've worked through all that they put on the show and obviously, it's going a little bit different than the actual show. If anybody knows me or have read my other stuff, they know I'm a huge history nerd, so the next couple chapters will be really history heavy. From now on, Bothwell will be the actual Bothwell, the ambitious and dangerous guy, not the loyal and true guy he was portrayed to be.

Never fear, it'll still be reign heavy, all the characters will stay the same and nobodies going anywhere. It just wont have many actual reign scenes that have been edited to fit in this little story.

Thank you all so much for reading this story, I was really reluctant to publish it on here, so thank you all who have read and commented!

Next chapter will be up quite soon!

Love you all!
