Fiach was a lad of the streams and lochs,
Which served as his home on his father's boat.
The Merrow watched the boy play by the rocks,
And wondered why their Queen bade him be smote.
He respected the Queen's wat'ry domain;
And he disturbed not Her many subjects.
But questioning Queen's orders was in vain:
The Merrow wished not to be Her rejects.
So they watched as the innocent lad
Went further than his father should have let.
While Fiach, had done nary a thing bad,
Twas time for his father to pay his debt.
With pitying hearts and faces graven,
They transformed Fiach into a raven.
