Morgan exited the elevator and peeped through the glass on Javier's door. She knocked and pressed her ear to the door. Silence.

Morgan: Javi, I know you're home...open the door.

She pressed her ear to the door again and heard shuffling inside.

Morgan: Javier, I think you know me well enough to know that I'm not going anywhere. *she said pounding on the door again*

Neighbor: Excuse me! Do you have any idea what time it is? What is your problem?!
Morgan: Fuck off! *she said turning around and approaching the woman*

Morgan clearly not being in the right state of mind took a deep breath to try and calm down.

Morgan: Look, I'm sorry, I'm sorry. Have you seen the man that lives here recently?
Neighbor: Hmm....tall guy with a fro and scraggly beard?
Morgan: Fro and scraggly beard? I don't think we are talking about the same person.

Javier was never one to miss his bi-weekly appointment with his barber to keep his shit lined up.

Neighbor: If you're talking about ol' boy in 3B, he has a fro and a scraggly beard. He only comes out every two weeks to grab the groceries he has delivered. Other than that he doesn't leave his apartment.
Morgan: Shit. Thanks..

When Morgan turned back around she seen Javier standing at the door

When Morgan turned back around she seen Javier standing at the door.
Morgan: Javi, please let me in.

Javier unlocked the door and walked away. As soon as she entered the apartment, Morgan was hit with a foul stench. She seen empty molded over pizza boxes sitting on his kitchen table, beer cans all over the house, and it was clear Javier hadn't washed the sweatpants and sweatshirt he had on in a while.

Morgan looked away from the mess and seen Javier standing in front of the last family portrait that he, Nia, and Shayla took

Morgan looked away from the mess and seen Javier standing in front of the last family portrait that he, Nia, and Shayla took. Tears immediately began to well up in Morgan's eyes. Morgan and Javier have been friends since they were in diapers. Their moms were friends and high school and never lost touch. They attempted to date in college, but when shit hit the fan they decided to cool it to not risk losing their friendship. Morgan loved Nia. They were like three peas in a pod. She was like a sister to her. Shayla was her goddaughter.

Morgan: Javier...
Javier: I don't know how to go on without them. Life doesn't seem to make sense. I can't sleep, I can't function...you know we argued about which pre-school Shayla should go to the day before she died? *he chuckled softly to himself*

Morgan walked over to him and grabbed his face.

Morgan: Javi, I know you're hurting. This isn't going to bring them back! This isn't you. When we went to get drinks after the funeral you said you were going to do everything in your power to bring down who did this. Mayor Thomas. You can do this! We can do this!

Javier laid his head on Morgan's shoulder

Javier: I can't. It hurts...it just hurts so bad. I just want the pain to go away..*he cried*
Morgan: I know, I know..*she said as she rubbed his back.

Morgan woke up as her head slid off her hand she was resting it on. Javier had fallen asleep on her lap. She gently lifted his head from her lap and slid her leg from under him. She looked down at him sleep. It hurt Morgan to see Javier like this. He is always the strong one. Always the one down to fight for what's right. Never one to give up.

Morgan: Javier..
Javier: *snores*

She chuckled to herself, forgetting that he snored like a bear in hibernation

She chuckled to herself, forgetting that he snored like a bear in hibernation. She covered him with a blanket and decided to let herself out.

If Javier wasn't going to do anything, Morgan was going to do everything in her power to bring down the man that murdered her family..
