Hayce's POV
I waited for Damen to leave. And waited. And waited. I finally couldn't take it anymore, he was just sitting there texting.
"Don't you have classes today?" I asked.
"Don't you?" He asked me looking up from his phone.
"I called in sick." I said.
"The headmaster said I didn't have to be in until tomorrow. So your stuck with me on your "sick" day." He put down his phone to put air quotes around sick.
"Whatever." I mumbled. I got up and grabbed some things out of my dresser before walking towards the door.
"Where are you going?" He asked.
"None of your business." I said and walked out. I walked down the hall and down the elevator and made my way towards my favorite part of the school, the pool.
I made it into the locker room. It smelled like chlorine, the smell hung heavily in the air. I had gotten used to it after my numerous times being here. I could swim for hours without anyone coming in. I undressed and shoved my clothes in the metal blue locker. I was in my red bikini. It wasn't one of those tiny slut ones that only cover your body with little triangles worth of fabric. It covered me like regular panties and a bra would. It was a shiny kind of red with tiny silver dots making it look shinier. It was strings around my neck and to the back that tied together. The bottoms covered my butt with small strings on the two sides.
I walked out of the locker room with my white towel and set it on the cold metal bench. I walked over to the edge and looked at the depth. I loved the thought of jumping in, but my favorite was diving in. I got on the small diving board. It was short, you stepped on and then jumped in. I stood straight and stretched my arms over my head and then held them out in fornt of me. I leaned over and dived in. I was surrounded by the refreshing feel of the water and I used by arms to cut through the water and then lean up to get to the surface. I took in a breath and then dived back under. I swam to the bottom and touched the tile with my hands and pushed back up. When I reached the surface this time I touched the wall and opened my eyes. Damen was standing over me with a smirk on his face.
"Guess I found your hiding spot." He said with his arms crossed over his chest.
Damen's POV
I was curious about where she could possibly have gone on her "sick" day, but it was probably something like extra credit. I got up and grabbed my swimming trunks. It was the perfect time to try out their pool that was so generously offered for me to use. I went into the main building and looked around. I didn't know where the pool was, but it couldn't be that hard to find.
Twenty minutes later I had finally found the locker room. I went in and found that there was a small room on the side. I got dressed in there. It would probably be where I would get dressed when I came here because they didn't have a boy's locker room. I grabbed my towel and walked out. I smiled wide when I saw a familiar figure in the water. She was swimming under water in a red bikini. I took my eyes off of her and waited for her by the side of the pool.
Hayce's POV
I glared at him again. I couldn't believe he had found me. This was my place to be in my free time. There was no way in hell I was going to share it. Especially with him. I pulled myself out of the pool and saw him watching me intently. I walked over to the bench and grabbed my towel. I wrapped it around me and sat down.
"Don't let me stop you. It was quite a show." He said with his arms up. He winked at me as he backed up and turned around to go on the diving board. He looked at me one more time before standing on it. I stuck out my tongue at him and he laughed. The sound made a fluttering in my stomach, what was wrong with me? I watched him dive in and move through the water. He ended quickly and pulled himself like I had. The water dripping from his body as he walked over to where I was.
"That was pretty graceful." I said before I could stop myself. He turned his face towards me after wiping his face on his towel. He had a smile on his face. He got closer and leaned over me, a hand on either side of me, resting on the bench. His face was only a few inches away. He smirked.
"I could say the same for you." He said. So he was watching me.
"You were watching me." I said. I needed to stop saying my thoughts out loud. He backed up.
"You could say that." He said before getting back in the water. I got up and jumped in. This was still MY time. I pulled myself back up to the surface and he was a few feet away, pulling strokes through the water. I got out and sat on the edge with my legs in the water. He looked over at me.
"Dive in." He said.
"Why?" I asked. Why did he want me to dive in?
"I want to see if your capable of a decent dive." He smiled while lounging on his back.
"Fine." I said standing up. I walked over to the diving board. I looked into the water. Something didn't feel right. I looked for something in the water, but nothing was visible in the clear water. I ignored the feeling and dived in. I pushed off the bottom and was on my way to the surface when I felt something on my foot. I opened my eyes and saw a thin string that was caught in the vent wrapped around my foot. I struggled to loosen it, but it wouldn't come free. I could feel the air leaving my lungs wanting to leave my mouth, but I kept it clamped shut as I struggled with my hands to pull the string out of the vent. I felt something move next to me and saw Damen move to my foot. He grabbed the string and pulled it off of my ankle. I couldn't hold my breath anymore and I let go. He pushed up, wrapping his arms underneath my legs and back. He pulled me up and I felt my lungs burn from lack of air. I felt the cold rush of air around me as I choked on the water that was still in my lungs. He set me down on the cold tile, but his hands were still underneath me. He was kneeling beside me, still holding me. I finished choking and breathed in a gulp of air.
"You saved me." I said as I looked into his green eyes.
