Chapter Four :Bag Of Surprise

Day four

We were in the car with mom and dad as he drove us to church. Ada decided to bring up my third date and suddenly everyone was interested even dad.

"I think he has a point about the weaves, I know how much the three of you spend on your hair. It could buy me so many things if I started saving it"dad said laughing

Mom rolled her eyes at him
"So he let you come back by yourself, what are young men of these days turning to? They have no ounce of chivalry left in them"

"I agree with that"

Ada could not hold her laughter and it annoyed me that she found what happened amusing.

"What are you doing? "I questioned her as she reached out into her handbag

"Chatting with Laura, she says you should pray well in church so that God would bring you better dates from now on"

Tell her that I hate her sooo much"

"Maybe she has a point, Amaka make. Sure you put your dates into God's hands" mother taunted

"Mother! It's not even fair, I'm only going on these dates because of what you and dad told me"

"So do you have another date today? "Dad suddenly asked out of the blues

" Yes I do, I just hope this one turns out to be nice" I replied with so much hope

Service was very quick and during prayers I asked for a good man which was amusing,

Inner thoughts :He has better things to do than to fix up a good man for you! 🙄🙄There are matters of urgency like war, sickness, yours is the least of the world's problems

By the time we got home I had missed three calls from David
So I called back and when I spoke with him, he sounded distraught. He wanted me to come to his house .

He texted his address and I left immediately but not before informing Ada and my patents.

When I got to the address he texted me I was stunned. It was as big an estate , how could this be his house? The money David has should have probably him rude and away from the country but he was just like a scared little puppy when it came to relating with people. Life has a way of teaching me lessons

As soon as I made way into the house I was greeted by three servants, One of the servants directed me to where David was and when I got there he was smoking.

He quickly threw the sticks into a plate and stood up. He took the plate out and came back
I wanted to hug him, but I couldn't stand the stench of cigarettes.

"What happened? I asked, assessing the state of his abode, still amazed by the interior decoration." if only I could borrow some things"

"My parents came to see me"He stated coldly

"That's hardly an emergency, so why did you make me rush down here? "With the way he sounded I had thought am avalanche came knocking at his door

" You won't understand, my parents are the emergency. It's bad enough that they wanted to force me to study another course in school, this time they're telling me to get married "

I sat very close to him, but my nose would scrunch up randomly whenever he spoke.
