"what can i get for you two?"

Hoseok repeats with a slightly confused look spread on his face.

Nari nudges Jihye in the shoulder,

signaling to the wide-eyed girl

to stop gawking at the poor boy and to just order their food.

"umm...uhh... can i get a small black bean sauce noodle?"

Jihye unintentionally stutters,

mentally cursing at herself for being so pathetic.

as Nari makes her order,

Jihye does everything she can

to focus on anything and everything

but the boy taking her best friend's order.

it didn't feel like there are butterflies in her stomach,

more like a stampeding herd of elephants trudging over her body.

as Nari hands over the dollar bills,

Jihye quietly interrupts:

"you're Jung Hoseok, right? and you go to the local high school, right?"

Hoseok looks up from the register

to make eye contact with her,

then beaming one of his gorgeous,

show-stopping smiles at her.

"yup, you're Kwon Jihye, that freshman, right? the one who always scores top 5 in class?"

Hoseok questions as he hands Nari her change.

"yeah, hehe,"

Jihye chuckles nervously

while she plays with her fingers,

unsure of what to do now. "that's me."

"i gotta say, i was kinda surprised a freshman can beat me during exams, so props to you."

Hoseok compliments

before heading back into the kitchen to get their food.

Nari turns to Jihye,

a smirk spread blatantly on her face,

as the two girls head over to a small table in front of the window

facing the bright neon streets.

Jihye sits across from Nari,

setting her heavy backpack down beside her and looks up,

just to be greeted by Nari's focused stare.

Jihye opens her mouth,

about to tell Nari something,

but is intentionally cut off by Nari.

"that's the guy, right? he's cute. Okay, i take my statement from before back, you should totally ask him ou-."

Nari shamelessly lets out.

before she was able to finish her sentence,

Jihye leaned over the table and put her hand over

the other girl's mouth,

catching her completely off guard and effectively shutting her up instantly.

"shut up! he's right there and there are people 'round us!"

Jihye whisper yells

into the other traumatized girl's face with more intensity than she intended to.

Nari finally pushes herself out of Jihye's deathly grip,

gasping for air once she'd escaped.

"okay, okay, i get it you over obsessive weirdo. but can you just tell me what he's like?"

Nari begs politely, "so i can see he's Nari approved."

"hey, i don't need YOUR approval,"

Jihye responds, lightly chuckling at her friend's eccentric antics, "but sure, since you're my

best friend."

"great, so spill the whole tea. everything, his mom, his dad, his foot siz-"

"okay, okay, i can't start if you're always talking over me gee, calm down, he's not even your first boyfriend." Jihye chuckles.

"well, i guess i'm just interested about everything in your life,"

Nari responds in an almost nostalgic tone, while resting her chin in the palms of her hands.

the tone of her voice confused Jihye,

but she just brushes it off.

"okay, so i don't know a lot since i am NOT a stalker,"

Jihye starts out,

emphasizing the 'not',

"but i do know that he's on the school basketball team and he's like really popular,

he's part of that Bangtan Boys or whatever they call themselves."

Nari stays silent for a moment,

a look of sudden realization spread on her face.

"isn't he friends with that boy Jeongguk from our grade?"

Nari questions,

"they always seem like they're better than everyone else,

especially that Park Jimin kid,"

she ends in utter disgust.

Jihye is silent,

unable to produce a response to her best friend's sudden statement.

"well...he seems like the nicest one of the bunch. an-and he's really smart, so he can't be that bad right?"

Nari opens her mouth to shoot out a comeback,

but was suddenly cut off

by a deeper, more masculine voice.

"one cold noodle and one black bean noodle for my 'classmates',"

Hoseok cheered with a chuckle as he hands the two girls their orders.

Jihye murmurs an almost inaudible 'thank you'

and digs into her food,

while Nari shoots him a glare

and begins her unnecessary bugging of the poor boy serving them.

"so, uhh...how did you get this job?"

she starts off by questioning with sincere intensity.

"Oh my parents don't loan me a lot of spending money, so i thought i should start earning my own,"

he answers casually,

his smile staying intact the entire time, from start to finish.

"okay, so do you know this kid named par-,"

Nari begins once more but is shot with a death glare from Jihye,

signaling for her to shut up.

"well, thanks Hoseok-Oppa, i'll see you around school then,"

Jihye stutters with all of her courage.

"yup! See you 'round,"

he says as he turns around to walk away,

but back-tracks for a second to look back at Jihye,

"oh, and no need for the formalities. just call me Hobi."
