He locked the car and took his bag. I had to move wherever he went, like a spot, holding the umbrella, trying my best to shield us both.
So a petite girl compared to the guy next to her, carrying an umbrella, which was evidently for one person only, will have to bear consequences. My left arm and his right were drenched in the rain. Plus it was difficult to keep up pace with a person having….…..well, a faster pace. It is even more difficult, when the other person is taller than you. And the cherry on the top was that, there was no one in sight to ask for help.
After about a minute of struggling with these small hiccups, he took the umbrella from my hand and put an arm around my shoulders. I looked at him with a quizzical brow, which had probably no impact, because I tried it so half-heartedly.
“What?” he asked. “I can do this better than you.”
I did not want to question his gesture nor had the energy to. After another couple of minutes we finally reached the doorsteps of my house. I unlocked the door and went inside and he followed me.
